Best way to put it.

  • You will enjoy the CARB version a lot.
  • You will enjoy a fully customizable one even more.

For $200 more, the race version is a steal. You may never use the added features or the included third party custom tune (which is a steal I might add). But the VSA and rev hang disable technically aren't CARB certified. And they make the car so much more enjoyable when used reasonably.

I am a very careful person and like to err on the side of caution. I feel the CARB version is the safest for the vehicle (sans maybe the clutch?). I dont know how I feel about tinkering with all these stuff that I dont really think were meant to be messed with, could potentially mess with the realibility down the line. The CARB keeps everything stock untouched, with just a very noticeable boost of power, which I think the increase in power/torque are still within the safe limits the Si's internals can handle, and that gives me a peace of mind. Plus I get to save $200.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I mostly enjoyed my time with Hondata's CARB version and have hundreds of posts showing that. If you want a basic, set and forget solution, it's not bad at all.

don't forget that ktuner has advanced vsa as well.
i am playing with it now in autocross.
it is faster than pedal dance to disable stock vsa.
and thats saying something!

TBH I would go with KTuner instead of Hondata and go with the v2, it gives you control over everything, you can choose to run stock boost levels which will not increase clutch wear but at same time have the ability to change to any boost you want, plus with v2 you have the display and you can log. Hondata is very limited with what you can adjust. Right now if you order a KTuner from twostepperformance you can also get the Stage 1 tune for free, with this tune you can run stock with map 1 but also do a on the fly change to map 2 for the slightly increased boost levels. Numerous testing has shown that running map 3 effects mainly 5th and 6th gear, with the KTuner you have the choice to limit your boost in those gears to ensure you don’t build too much. These are the reasons I went with KTuner, seems like the best coarse!

I think you should already be running premium. Mine says premium recommended. So 87 octane is out.

You can tune it to use 87, but you are better off tuning for flex fuel. I like Hondata because of the good customer service and they are always making updates.

How is the advanced traction control with ktuner? People are "ooing and awing" over the hondata TC so im just curious what your thoughts are on the ktuner version.
Also, Im guessing there's a difference in disabling VSA via pedal dance VS holding down the button?

i gained almost a full second per lap using advanced vsa from ktuner vs pedal dance. pushing the button does very little over 30 mph.

i am very impressed with the adv vsa. drag guys will love it. your tires will last much longer on those second gear pulls. and you will be faster for it.

Is the enable TC in Hondata the same as K-Tuners Adv VSA? As in do they perform the same functions?

So by tuning and enabling those traction control features on both platforms, doing the pedal dance, lets say on a drag strip or race track, is no longer needed for better traction to improve track/drag times?

So I decided to install the +6 Hondata. While doing the on the fly lunch control setup while stationary in neutral, clutch in and revving the engine at the same time hitting the cruise control up and down button(I know stupid), I noticed the tach over rev past red line multiple times. Again I was parked in my driveway in neutral, should I be concerned with engine damage or any other problems? And now will I have an over rev code stored in my ECU?

Following this only because I'm curious, do codes stored while flashed stay in the ECU after flash back to stock.....
