Your car comes with the premium sound correct? the amp and sub? if so did you need the crossover for the tweeters or did you use the one built into the amp??
thank you ;)
Don't install the crossovers. I made that mistake and it made everything distort. Found out everything is crossed over at the amp. Just do a straight install.

I installed these tonight. Rockford Prime R1T-S. Each set was $36.69. No crossovers. The wire colors didn't match what I found on these boards (as mentioned by a few others), so I just wired them in a consistent manner -- they're either all correct, or all reversed. It took some masking tape and a ton of hot glue to get them in place. Sounds :thumbsup::thumbsup: :headbang:

Sorry for the awful flash. Didn't want to wait until the AM to take the photos.

Hey guys, I finally found the courage to take apart the ANY piece of this car, and wanted to start from the speakers, now I read everything about the tweeters so far and am sold for the polk audio mainly for the simplicity in the install and the final look. Now my question is, since I will be installing their crossover, where did everyone put it? Looking at a video on YT it looks pretty big and was wondering if it actually fits behind the sail where the tweeters are.
Any suggestions (and pics if you have any) would be greatly appreciated!

If you have a touring you don't need the crossovers, they are crossed over at the amp. one way to tell is when you pull apart tweeter sail, if the tweeter DOES HAVE the tiny resistor next to the plug then YOU WILL need the crossover. Sorry for the caps lock on those lol just making sure they arent mixed up

what model civic you have?
i know people who just tessa taped them in the tweeter sail or top of door panel on the inside
it's the hatchback, don't know what US trim it would be (the one with the front central speaker, no sub, 5 front speakers, 6 in back)

yeah not to sure man about the hatch, but if it doesnt have the sub than i doubt youll have the amp so im guessing youll find the resistors on tweeters which means you will need crossovers (I May Be Wrong).
you can fit them in the tweeter sail behind the speaker or wrap the excess wire and crossover with tessa tape and mount in into the door panel

i just did the tweeter upgrade :)

if anyone does not want to cut there wires or use a splice tap when you remove your old tweeters just cut off the female connection off the OEM tweeter. There is gap between the connector and the tweeter bezel. I stuck a hacksaw blade there and just get it off nice and clean. The solder your new tweeter ends to the two terminals that are on it:)

plug and play tweeters :)

Any way to connect aftermarket tweeters without soldering/splicing wires? I got JL C2-650. I got the bottom speakers setup easy with a connector harness but couldn't find how to wire the top speakers. The OEM harness is female and the JL speakers are also female.

I read through this whole thread (or maybe the other audio upgrade thread) and there was someone that thought they found an eBay listing for the harness but don't think they came back to confirm it was correct. I got the same JL component kit and was wondering if the tweeter would sound right without the high pass filter that comes when you buy the tweeter on its own. The kit only comes with a crossover that is meant to connect both woofer and tweeter and not sure if it will work without woofer connected.

I see you have a type r, so aftermarket tweeter would be plug and play (no high pass filter required) since your stock amp does all the crossing over for you, but yes you would have to splice the factory tweeter connection since i dont believe they have a harness for that, i looked everywhere when doing mine.

Anyone have any pics or install guide on how to splice the wires?

Never done this before so I don't want to mess up.
