Just got done installing replacement speakers in my EX-T. I struggled when deciding which ones to get and didn't really want to spend more than $200 for all four. I am not audiophile. I listen mostly to rock and metal and really the factory speakers just don't cut it. I was originally going to go with Infinity 6532ix but they were out of stock and I didn't really want to wait. I ended up going with Focal ISC165. I liked the idea of rotating the angled tweeter to give it some directional sound. I installed the door speakers a couple of weeks ago. After I installed the driver door speaker I isolated the front and faded left and right to compare the sound. I was surprised that it seemed like the factory speaker had more bass. It seems impossible that the factory speakers can put out any bass at all, they feel so cheap and the magnet is tiny. Anyway I tackled the rear speakers tonight. Kind of a pain and took about an hour and a half. Now with all four speakers, low end seems fine for what they are. Most notably I can push the volume to about 30 and it is still quite crisp and clear. Factory speakers started crapping out at about 25. Next up is probably one of the Rockville 8" or 10" subs. Seems like a good value and will likely be perfect for my situation. I really like the compact size. I should note that I kept the front factory tweeters connected. I was planning on doing the same for the rear but didn't realize they were integrated into the back deck cover and did not disconnect them when pulling it off. As a result, one of them was damaged so I kept the other disconnected. Bottom line is anyone looking to upgrade their factory speakers, the Focals are a good choice at under $100 a pair.

don't go below a 10 inch sub. don't ask why just don't
Thanks for the advice. It looks like physically the 8 and 10 are nearly the same size and the 10 is only $15 more so I think I will go with that one. Again, for metal and rock, don't need booming bass, but it would definitely be easier to tone down the bigger one than get the smaller one to put out more sound.

Those speakers aren’t going to do jack unless they are pushed by a new amplifier. The factory one is terrible. When I replaced the head unit in my accord it was pushing 50 watts to the speakers vs about 20 and it was night and day even with the factory speakers. I’m not saying replace the head unit considering that’s next to impossible these days, but getting more power to the speakers will be a game changer. I’m trying to game plan for my R as we speak

Before you go out and spend money on a sub you might want to give your new speakers about 6 weeks to be broken in. The bass will improve a lot in a couple months. If you have tweeters in the door sails I would highly recommend you replace them. Imo they are the worst speakers in the whole system.

i kept the tweeters and EQ'd them with viper4android.
what a difference!
the build-in honda eq is the worst ever.
