True dat. We have like 4 Rs around here that no one ever sees and when we do they got like 400 miles on them. Not sure why they buy them.
I’m glad I daily drive mine. Puts a smile on my face every minute I’m sitting behind the wheel. I bought to drive until I hit 400,000 km. :D I’ll do everything I can do to keep it looking in good shape, but oh man, she’s gonna see some kms on the odometer. Perfect car for me and my dog :p

First off, I'll be honest. I haven't gone through and read any posts in this topic. I just want to respond to the "It's just a Civic" remark.

First off, well yeah, it's a Honda Civic. There's no getting around that. But, for starters that's not a bad base. Honda's have always been well designed cars. The difference is that this 10th gen isn't your daddy's Civic. It's from the ground up the best Civic ever. And the Type R, takes that base and tweaks and builds on it in every way. It's Nurburgring race track tested. It probably offers the best overall balanced performance of any vehicle available in North America (and maybe the World) for the $$.

Just a Civic? Those words are coming from ignorant, jealous haters. Who cares what they say.

I would gladly pay $35k for just a Prius if they performed like a CTR. Could you imagine getting 60mpg on a CTR

So what you're saying is that we need to buy a base Prius for 27k, talk them down to say 24-25k. Pull out the front and electric motors. Sell those for better electric motors and maybe move the batteries to the front. Then buy a K20C1 engine and strap it to the back with a DCT powering the rear wheels? Who needs practicality anyways?

I think what he was saying is most people hate Prius's but if it performed like a Type R who cares what people think.

On another note, I drive a Civic EX-L. Other drivers look at it as a commuter Civic and that's about it. I wonder what they think when they can't keep up with me on the roads (I'm tuned). It's fun having a sleeper.

"It is just a 35K Civic at the end of the day" has to be one of the most ignorant statements anyone makes.

How about this then,
The Ford Shelby GT500 is just a Mustang at the end of the day!
The Hellcat is just a Challenger at the end of the day!
The Camaro ZL1 is just a Camaro at the end of the day!
… and so on.

Look every cars base model is crap for performance and is sold to people who want the style but might not be able to afford the high end goodies. Comparing any cars high end to its low end is just stupid. And anyone who dismisses any performance car in this manor is simply ignorant of cars and should probably be driving an I Phone..er I mean tesla or Ecar.

Its just a civic... LOL... Why not ask the dipshit who pulled up to me last night in his louder then hell fancy Camaro, all revving and wanting to race with his Dale JR race team stickers. Well when I left him in the dust at a rolling race on the interstate I guess all that off the line power didn't mean shit now did it? So I guess he was back there going, "Whatever its just a civic" while crying over some Hank Williams and stroking his dash bobble head of Dale Jr.
Don’t listen to the haters! That’s all they are is haters. Yeah it’s a civic, but it’s a badass civic! They are just mad that your car is so well engineered. It is a straight up race car off the showroom floor. It is not an A to B car. It does a little of everything very well. So 35k is a bargain. It looks good, while also performing very well in all categories. Even the top speed is impressive! And you can still fit four people in there comfortably, not to mention the cargo space. Try doing that in the back seat of a Camaro, mustang, or challenger. Trust me I like all the cars I just listed, but they are in a different category. The type R is a track car. You put any one of those cars on a track with you and they wouldn’t hang. So enjoy your badass car and don’t listen to those haters

Why would you even care what people think?
Why are you worried about a camaro driver etc?
Just relax and drive your car man.

Harlaquin thinks the Type R is the greatest sports car ever built and if you don’t believe him he’s gonna jump up and down, hold his breath and stomp his feet until you agree with him.

I think you forget what forum you are in. Why would a Type R owner in a Type R forum for Posts about the Type R not think they are the best? Your insult makes no sense here.

Let me try this...

The GT2RS is just a Beetle at the end of the day!
Couldn't resist!

On a serious note, people will always try to come up with justifications to fit their preconceived beliefs. I think that's both important to understand and necessary to truly enjoy this car; that is unless you genuinely dont care what people think which I think I may fall under

I see people say this alot . but truth is people do care what others think. they say they dont but typically the ones who say they dont care what others think the most are the ones who usually care the most and get their feeling hurt the fastest.

We buy things and find a group or a circle of friends with similar interests because we are social animals. we do want acceptance and when people have opinions that differ from our own we do have a reaction. We do care. We say we Dont but then why do we stay away from those who Dont share our opinions and gravitate toward those who do? Because we all do care what others think. Its why Facebook exists. All we do is post for others to see and comment. Its why we are here right now on this forum reading this. Like my girlfriend and makeup. I ask her why she cares so much what others think that she has to get all fixed up all the time. she says she does it for her(typical response) so I counter ok so if we crashed on a deserted island with no people you would get up everyday and put makeup on? I highly doubt it. You are doing it because you want to be perceived a certain way in public when others see you. because everyone cares what others think. Its why we get haircuts and buy cloths and present ourselves in certain matters. Everyone cares what others think.

So back to the R Yes I do care what others think. IM in a amazing group of car people. Despite my opinions on these forums in real life people seem to like me :) LOL. WE have great car debates go on great car rides and its all been because of the R that I found this particular group of friends. I get positive comments and everyone likes the car. Im proud of this car and what it can do for such a little cost. I handle negative comments well actually and even kid back about their cars. I tell my buddy his new mustang looks like a whale shark going after shrimp. Its all good fun. What I don't like is uneducated, jealous, dismissive, uneducated comments like "well its just a 35k civic at the end of the day" coming from people who cant get one, dont understand just what an engineering and amazing car for the money it is and think the only why to have a good car is to spend 70k. Which at the "end of the day" this "just a 35k civic" whoops their ass. So when they are sitting there in utter defeat because they blew their house payments each month on a over priced symbol of their small manhood. Their only recourse is to insult the car instead.

Last night some dipshit actually said to his friend "oh these cars are slow I saw it on a video".... seriously. Its stupid crap like that , that just gets me. Have you driven one? have you not seen the records it holds? It is not that I cant take negative comments it is a cant take stupidity. Actually one of the most negative comments I have gotten was one of my fav and I find funniest. Because it was a pure opinion comment and not from some stupid jealous dismissive ego bullshit. Was standing at a place and some people were looking at the R. A Hispanic guy comes walking by which is relevant because he says somewhat loudly to his buddy " Man that think looks stupid like a Mexican got a hold of it" I saw who said it and just laughed. He kept walking. Didn't hurt my feelings at all actually thought it was great.

So dont say "you dont care what people think" If I saw your car at a show and stood there and talked shit about it , you most certainly would care. Some from of emotion would take hold good or bad and that is caring.

It is also funny if you look at cars owned, most the "members" here saying troll BS on this post dont even own a R. So this just enforces my opinion that those talking crap are jealous.

Everybody has different taste in things ,it wouldn't be fun if everybody had the same taste so opinion's can be said about the fk8 , its like people say the fk8 is over done but look around those That talk are the ones that have the base and go to different web sites to buy all the parts that can fit from the type r to the basic civics other talk about the wing being to big but yet buy replicas for there cars its clear jealousy if you can't have it then you have to talk bad about it , i have mine and all i can say is that everything it has is well placed and looks great in every way and coming from a evo10 i have to say this car is way better in quality and build other than its a HONDA not taking anything from mitsubishi evo 10 is a great car so for those that hate on the type r it doesn't matter what you can say this car speaks for its self being a track record holding vehicule from the box , that can be used as a daily

actually i have been in many situations where i'm just hanging out with friends at starbucks sitting down and some dude in a STI is walking in saying "why would anyone pay so much for a civic". It does't really bother me one bit because who cares. I know first hand how capable the car is. It's clear people like that are not real enthusiasts. Real enthusiasts appreciate all cars no matter what brand/model it is. Whether it is euro, japan, or domestic. No point in talking or debating with a dude who are not "real enthusiasts".

Let's take a miata for an example. There are lots of people who talk shit about miata about how slow and how "girly" the car is and what not. Those are the same people that would probably get their behind handed to them at a road course or autox. The real enthusiasts knows that miatas are one of the best driving cars and is a beast at autox and appreciate the car for what it is.

As you know i'm one of the person who said it's just a 35k civic and i have had this car since Aug of '17 and is paid off. So my opinion on this car is not from jealousy or ego or anything of that sort. It's just what it is. That doesn't mean i hate the car or i think it's a pos. it's a 35k civic and it's a damn good one.

if what other people say bugged you all the time, life will start to become stressful so who cares. I spent 10% of what the car costs new on basically an exhaust set up. I bet there are lots of people who thinks that is stupid but why does it matter. They didn't pay for it.

Ah but there is a difference. Its not that the "its just a civic" is said. In the manor of which you say it, its not a negative thing. You are proud of your civic and that it only cost 35k to get what you did. My issue, which I have clarified several times is the dismissive ones that when they know your "just a civic" can out perform their _____ fill in 50k plus car. They get but hurt and go for what they perceive as an insult "well so its just a civic". As if the brand or name of their slower car makes it somehow better then "just a civic". I actually got snarky with a guy last night at a meet. I normally don't in real life :) but 200 cars I was only R and he started oh I want something better and blah blah blah ive seen videos and blah blah blah its a Honda blah blah blah. So I was what is it you want to get? He goes oh Im looking at a mustang because they are so different.... UM? so all I said was different? Like my only type R and the 75 Mustangs that are here right now? I think he got the point and became a little less trash talking about the R before walking off.
