Anyone bought Hondata Flashpro and then wish they had not?

I might be going this route myself if KTuner doesn't start catching up.
I think both companies do a good job, however Hondata is offering up a lot of goodies right now.
It doesn't seem like KTuner even cares to catch up at this point. Several members posed questions and directly asked KTuner on new features and updates, KTuner gave cryptic responses or just plain ignored the questions. They are very responsive when it comes to troubleshooting their product, but on new features? Nothing. It's like they just gave up on developing for the FK8 and don't want to admit it to prevent even more potential customers to go Hondata.

From a business perspective, the 1.5 market globally is so many multiples of the size of the fk8 market so I get why the fk8 gets less attention

It's pretty clear Hondata is the go to platform for the R and KTuner for the 1.5 turbo models.

If I'm guessing here, I'm thinking Hondata owns a Type R (for R&D) and maybe KTuner doesn't?

I get it from a business perspective, but some transparency on development for the FK8 would be nice. It's not helping them by keeping us in the dark. If anything, it hurts them since guys like us are just going to point any potential buyers to Hondata if they own an FK8.

to be fair, hondata isn't really talking about what they have in store for the fk8 also. They are just releasing it catching us off guard lol. I've been asking about if its possible to have it default to +R like sport mode default for SI since early last year and didn't tell me if they were gonna work on it or not and they just implemented it out of nowhere.

It would be nice to know what they are working on. That way people have some stuff to look forward to.

For those of you who've switched from Ktuner to Hondata, did you need to send your ECU to Hondata or did Ktuner's unlock work for both platforms? Hondata's site says it may work...
nope, same here, worked fine, no need to send the ecu in again

ECU development is different from any other type of software development. If there is an modification you'd like to make then you can't predict how long it will take. You can't even predict if it is possible. All you can do is throw development time at it and see what happens. The outcome is usually binary (either we get the +R mode startup to work or not) so there is no progress whilst you're working on something. So in this case I'd looked at the +R mode several times over the last couple of years but this time we got it to work. Also what you don't see is all the things we try and they never make it to market because they don't work or are of little value.

But the bigger picture is that we learn a long time ago not to give out roadmaps or make promises for certain types of changes because it just leads to disappointment. Sorry about that, but there are good reasons.

It's understandable. It wasn't a knock against you guys or anything. Look at PRL intake thread for example. They gave out a certain time frame and wasn't able to deliver due to numerous reasons and the amount of people upset over it.

Just curious. seems we have only two tune options. Hondata and Ktuner and from my understanding, unless im wrong, Ktuner said they were stopping development for now on the type R due to lack of aftermarket parts? So that leaves Hondata. So with the base Type R already fairly impressive does the Hondata really give that much more? Can you really feel the difference? are you happy with what you paid? Hondata from what I see is the best but it is rather pricey once you factor in the jailbreak and shipping and taxes and all its over a grand. Have you bought it and then were less then impressed for the cost or were you so pleased the cost was totally worth it?

Just starting up conversation is all. I personally was gonna go Ktuner but with some of their responses to my inquires and then hinting at not developing further the type R I chose Hondata. However the cost was a hard pill to swallow. havnt got it back yet but hoping it is all worth it.

I like Hondata. It's definitely worth the money to get a custom tune.

Try the AFE Scorcher GT Module. It's another option for those who prefer to run their stock ECU. Takes 20 minutes to install and adds 39hp which is low compared to Hondata or Ktuner, but it's a reasonable option. I'm happy with mine.

I bought the extended warranty for my Type R and since i’m Canadian i didn’t feel like sending the ECU to California not being sure if it would void it so instead I got the Scorcher GT blue with an Injen air intake and I was pretty satisfied until I got a Remus Responder throttle control unit.
Scorcher was suppose to fit with any other performance gadgets but since I bought the Remus throttle control it’s not connecting!!!
I sent a message to support but after 2 weeks i had 2 answers: thanks for your mail and your ticket is expired and I received the one saying ticket expired first

See this was my experience as well. I sent them a email once asking for clarification on their ordering process as the web sites a bit confusing. I asked if i order from a dealer and then send the unlock to them. And that I needed to schedule an unlock with them as per their sites info. I got back some strange answer about how they don't steal from their dealers sales and such and not one answer to my question or a an appointment to send in my ecu. I sent another email in response saying that their own site says I have to contact them to make an appointment and that is what im trying to do. To which I got no answer.

I had two very good shops here in NC tell me to stay away from Ktuner for that reason as they themsleves would get half answered cryptic responses to service inquires. And now with them not even doing any more development for the type R....

On other hand I called Hondata and the guy who answered the phone was super nice , informative, was happy to answer my 1000 questions and even gave me tips and info on what they are currently doing and how the owner drives a type R he flashes all the time. Cost more money but heck that is how you run a business. Ktuner just seemed bothered you even were buying their product.
I am glad to see it wasn't just me. I asked KTuner a question by email, a simple question that literally required nothing more than a YES or NO as an answer. I had a 5 or 6 email back-and-forth with them, and never got an answer to the question, even though they claimed they answered the question. The whole thing was extremely irritating at the time, but quite comical to look back at their lack of professionalism now. I really should post the email chain, it is truly amazing.

BTW: Does Hondata have the option to have different tunes in different modes like the KTuner?
this ecu does not have the option to store multiple tunes. Both ktuner and hondata can't do that.

What you are talking about is different power outputs (torque request) for different driving modes, which both ktuner and hondata does.

I don't have either one to verify this myself, but I am pretty sure this is not correct. There are multiple sources where people talk about having a different tune for each setting of the mode switch with the KTuner. Such as Stage 0 in Comfort, Stage 1 in Sport, and Stage 2 in R+.

KTuner also has the ability to dampen torque per gear within the tune. Not sure if Hondata has this as well.
