$2300? It's like $1000 for flashpro w/ unlock and like $700 ish for a ktuner V1.2 w/ unlock.

I personally don't care what others do to their cars so no hate here. I just am not a fan of piggybacks. I do however, would like to review some logs to see how well this tune is. "It runs fine" isn't really a good indication that everything is fine.

yeah sorry that's Australian dollars. jb4 is a quarter of the price. the limitation appears to be the stock hpfp on type r hardly flows enough to deal with tunes that well. with the jb4 you will currently pick up 40whp and 50 lb. of torque with good octane. there is plenty of datalogs on the n54tech forum to show it runs fine.

I have it installed it last week. Running Map1 with 94Octane for now. You can feel the 40lbs of extra tork at WOT. Pros are it's easy to install, $$ per gains are good. Works super well with phone paired via Bluetooth. Maps take 2 secs to change. Just double tap icon on phone. I also like the fact that I can now see actual Oil temp, trans oil temp and water temp live. I'm going to the track on 19th. Been running 2 years in stock from so I will report back to give you real world top speed gains at the end of longest straight. I only got it for the track. On the street, car was already too fast. Now with extra 40lbs of torque it's faster still. At WOT, you can never use it as other cars are on the road and in the way.... super slow ;) and within a few seconds you already at legal speeds. On the track it will be just right
Have you tried any other maps ie map 2?

No not yet. I read on N54 forrum map 2 is on limit for type R due to fuel pump being at it's limit. I want to do some logs at track first before I try when I run it 30min sessions hard. I will be monitoring temps also. Here 94 octane (101ron) is readily available so I will eventually try it and have them review my logs

yes indeed. So let me repeat. The CTR has both an oil sensor and a water sensor built-in. Just get a device that can read them. JB4 can.
@KTuner and @D-RobIMW is this true? Is there a sensor for oil temp? Pretty sure there is not, as we would have had that as a readout on ktuner correct?

Yeah I guess if your tracking you don’t want to push it on map2 if it’s on limit. I’m gonna try adding e20 to see what happens

Ah didn’t realize you were in Australia.

Never been to n54tech so i didn't see the logs. Hopefully everything is fine.

no it's basically a piggyback. what this does is it "fools" the factory sensors into creating more power. Not my kind of thing but it is for some people.

There's an oil pressure sensor on the cylinder head; it's not an entirely accurate representation of pressure everywhere in the lubrication system.

There's a water temp sensor (2), but no oil temperature sensor.

Thanks for confirming that there is no oil temperature sensor.

I had this on my MK7R and it was phenomenal. George at BM has pretty much unmatched customer service response. Days, weekend, nights...he almost always gets back to you in quick order on whatever questions you may have. It totally transformed the Golf R, so I'm thrilled to see this available on the Type R =)

No you dont which is the reason I got it no need to unlock and can remove when you service. even if u are tuned you can use it to add Wmi or add 1psi of boost on top of tune. I had it on golf R and I worked really well. I get mine on Thursday so I will update on how I find it to work.
