I've been running a CAI in my cars for 20 years here in GA. This is the first issue I've had and I've had cars that were way lower to this ground that this one.

Not trying to bag on you or anything man, im just saying more so for new people considering the CAI. Honestly this is the first car where I have not run a CAI.. then again Florida is basically a flood zone for half the year so I didnt want to risk it after moving here. I Hope it just stalled the engine and no major damage occurred.

Pulled the bumper and cleared the IC. Turned the engine over several times and and cleared what little water was there.

Used a leaf blower to dry out any water in the IC, piping and cylinders. Let it all sit for a bit then reassembled. Car fired right up.

I let it come up to temp, did a small test drive around my house then just let it idle some more to dry it all out. Going to get a new filter and oil and change it today then again later this week just to be safe.

I'll have to file an insurance claim if the dealer won't cover it, if it happens to be major damage.

If this is the case I'll also be trading it in as soon as it's repaired.
And what auto insurance covers engines blowing up?

It's less the blowing up aspect and more of the flooded out vehicles that's engines lock up. I don't have first hand experience filing a claim, but I know there's folks on here that have done so.

I have a like new Injen Hydroshield for sale if you're interested, lol. Asking $15 shipped - had it on the car for a few days when friends on the forum here convinced me that I'd lose a few whp by using it. I took it off right away. Still in mint condition.

Auto insurance includes flood claims that damage a vehicle.....
But that isnt flood damage, that is mechanical damage. Thats why im asking. They will be able to tell right away the car wasnt sitting under water , and that this isnt typical flood damage, because there is no water damage to the car.

Speaking from experience, it would be covered as a comprehensive claim on ones insurance.

Sorry this happened to you. In the past running CAI, were they turbocharged engines? I don't have experience with cai, but my thoughts are that turbocharged engines would be drawing a lot more air into the intake than a NA engine. When I changed out the stock air filter for a K&N drop-in filter, the sound of the air being sucked in the intake was slightly more pronounced. Anyway, glad you were able to get it started up again. That is great news!
