Only the top is metal. I haven't had any issues on some pretty hot days so far.
I have the same knob and no issues with it getting too hot so far. Like the other user mentioned, only the top part is metal, the rest is leather. It's got a great feel/weight to it, and it matches the stock shift boot very well!

Highest I've had with the red version of this knob was on an 80 degree sunny when I forgot to crack my windows. The knob itself wasn't hot, though the aluminum sections were a little hot to the touch (if the whole thing were aluminum it would have not been fun). The good part is that for whatever reason the red aluminum cools off really quickly (the stock knob does not).

I was planning on buying smaller wheels in the fall to put some all season tires on, I wasn't planning on replacing the stock tires. I'm going to try to fix it myself, and if that fails I guess I will have to ruin my June budget and buy some new tires. Humbug.

Considering it doesn't utilize any mufflers, i'd say it weighs 17-18lb or so.
I believe it was around 19lbs when I looked into it a few weeks ago.
do we know what stock weighs? I just want to hear it with the valve closed to see if I could live with it day to day.
