Do maintenance notes from non-dealership mechanics go on the car's CPU?

Please forgive me for not asking a question about a Civic outright. My wife got her oil changed today at a Jiffy Lube on her 1.5 liter Turbo 2018 CR-V, but she made the mistake of getting it changed without the proper manufacturer recommended oil as Jiffy Lube did not tell her it could void her warranty. They used 5W30 SN/GF5 instead of 0W20 as recommended by Honda.

My question is does this info get saved in the vehicle's CPU in any way? I plan on going to get it changed tomorrow to the recommended oil type, but I don't want her CPU to indicate this specific oil change ever happened for warranty purposes. Any insight or recommendations?

Weird they’d do that, but that’s Jiffy Lube for you. I would say no, there’s no outright record of ‘an oil change’ occurring. Besides, the worst that would happen with a 5w-30 is you’d lose some fuel economy due to the thicker oil.

i would never let the highschool kids at juffy lube touch my car. we got enough problems caused by honda techs that don't care.
last time my wife went to one of those jiffys we had to chisel the drain plug out because it had been put in so tight. fortunately we managed to save the pan threads.

As mentioned already; I don't see how that would get indexed into the car's memory. The resetting of the Maintenance Minder might be noted; but I'm not sure.

I have to join the chorus singing the shame toward Jiffy Lube and other 'quickie' oil change places.

And you should immediately check the air filter on your CR-V. Those folks always pull the filter; trying to show you how dirty your current one is and how you should replace it. I'd make sure that there is even a filter there at all. But then make sure the box has been properly closed. And check that the dipstick isn't bent.

And change the oil filter too. I don't trust a single thing from those folks.

If Jiffy Lube had a fleet of 18 wheeler trucks; they'd drive them under the 11' 8" bridge.

One time I had my transmission fluid flushed (2001 Mazda Tribute) at Jiffy Lube, and 2 weeks later the transmission started slipping. I thought I needed a new transmission. After a trying various additives with no luck, I decided to get the transmission fluid changed again by the dealer (mostly because the instructions on the additives said to do that). Wa-la! Transmission was backed to normal. Obviously Jiffy Lube had used the wrong type of fluid.

Jiffy Lubes can screw up in many different ways. If you care about your ride, you really need to check and examine the car after all oil changes done by any shop.

But I wouldn't hurry to dump the oil immediately just because it is 5W30. I believe it would be a sin. It's perfectly fine, but it may not be synthetic. It's more important, but you didn't say what it was. Could be conventional or synthetic blend. I would just change the oil sooner next time.

While the oil type wouldn't be recorded, unless Jiffy Lube tracks a vehicles VIN number and an outside service buys that data (think how Carfax knows you've brought your car for service, had it state inspected etc) I don't see how it matters. People spend way too much time over thinking stuff these days... ;)

Its a car. 5/30 will work too.
