i just changed my girlfriends oil with the filtertech filter and Honda full synthetic oil. But I was wondering if anybody knows who makes this filter that I removed from her car. There was no part number but here are the pictures. This is what the dealership put in from her free first oil change.

That is the newer more cost-effective oil filter made by Fram. I personally wouldn't use the new ones if I were to go with OEM imo.

I wonder!

Torque values shown are not U.S.A. units. Newton meters and kgm.

No inch pounds or foot pounds.

Best to use the additional 3/4 turn with tool.

Yikes! Aren't they absolute garbage? I remember seeing an oil filter comparison and I believe Fram was the absolute worst thing you can use if you care about your car, if I recall correctly.

I've seen in the internet these 15400-PLM-A02 filters made in USA with no brand name, made in Canada by FRAM, made in Canada by Honeywell, assembled in USA, or no country printed.
Out in the world there are also other manufacturers such as Thailand. Some have the part number printed on them, most don't.
There are also blue filters looking similar, with the Honda part number printed but not claiming to be Honda It's a jungle out there....:fear:

There are also alleged fake ones.

The filter on the left side is allegedly fake, on the right original. But the fake is apparently better quality....a "real (big) spring" and more metal....

I always used premium fram filters for hundreds of thousands of miles.
Never had an engine problem that could be related to faulty oil.

Some of the better filters out there are the Mobil1, the K&N (although I think they've gone to Mexico, used to be US) the Platinum WIX (NAPA is the same) the higher level Bosch & STP filters are decent with semi-synthetc media. I've used nothing but the Mobil1 M110 & 110a filters for as long as I can remember. They are a 15,000 mile rated filter. There's some out there that are good, some better and some that are very marginal. All that being a given, there are thousands of folks out there who run whatever Honda installs and have never had an issue. I just prefer one that's proven over time to be better quality.
