Hi all,
Thanks again for all your input and advice. I went to another dealer and test drove a 2019 Coupe SI. Boy, was it nice to drive and I loved it. However soon after my right arm started to give me warning signs that shifting gears long term would not be good for my arm. Darn, I was hoping it would be ok so now I will definitely have to stick to CTVs in the future. I test drove a 2019 Coupe EX and Hatchback EX both were nice but I noticed the Coupe had less road noise, seemed to have bit more pick up and go, and had more options stock than the hatchback. Plus the Coupe is about $1,000 less than the Hatchback. Though I did notice this dealer had about $3,000 mark up on all vehicles. They include paint protectant, rockledge gps, and a maintenance package. The deal they offered me would only save me about 20 dollars a month. I think at this point if I want to have seriously lower payments I would probably have to go to a Coupe Sport which would be a downgrade with the engine but an upgrade in the interior. Or wait till my lease matures and decide then.

HI all,

I am down to 8 more months with my lease and I received a text message from the dealer I leased my car saying You have 8 more months till your lease ends. Give us a call for more information.

I guess I can look forward to dealerships contacting me about my lease. But I think I am going to wait for the 2020 model details to be released and see what changes are happening to the hatchback.

It would be nice for all the Sport Trims to have all the same tech.

I leased a 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring in 2017. On sunday I went and traded in my lease, they bought it out, and let me finance a SI that I get to keep. I had good credit from paying the car off on time so I paid $0. I would go and see what your options are.

What are the terms of this deal? You can't break even on a lease trade unless you are above water on the remaining value.

I was like $800 upside down. At the end of the day the SI is worth less than the Sport Touring Brand new so I came out with the car for 26K out the door + the $800 upside down.

Unfortunately, I have a 2017 Sport Hatch with about 31,000 miles and when I traded in my previous Honda I had to roll over $4000 into the new lease so now I am about $2,000 underwater trade in wise. If I private sell it I may get about $1500 more than the payoff amount. Since I am not sure about driving a manual due to my right arm being 5% permanently disabled from a work injury, I am kind of stuck in getting a CVT instead. So either get a Sport Touring for the same HP or get an EX, possibly tune it. Possibly get a Coupe Touring and look similar to an SI.;)

I would like to get into a lease that my payments would be at least $200 less than it is now. I have a loan paid off and this lease that I have paid on time, both, with HFS so I know I should have some wiggle room with HFS.

I am thinking maybe if I wear a tennis elbow brace that I can help prevent aggravating my tennis elbow when driving a stick but I am not sure. I am really, really tempted to lease/purchase a 2019 SI either in blue or tonic yellow. I really liked the way the SI Coupe felt while test driving it. LA traffic can be a b*tch for manual drivers.

I live in Miami Florida so I totally feel the manual driver pain.

Oh my Gosh, Honda just released the announcements for the 2020 Hatchback and SI Civics. Wow, the Sport will be the same as the Coupe/Sedan Sport as far as the interior and the SI's will have Honda Sensing. Man, Honda is making this decision harder. The 2020 Hatchbacks are in transit now and the SI's will go on sale Sept. 6th. :headbang:

Edit: October I will have 6 payments left on my lease and I can start seriously looking at the 2020 line as a possible upgrade.

Edit2: Just realized I am down to 6 payments left on my lease and in talking with HFS I know what my available options are either have the dealership pay off the 6 payments ($2774.58) and upgrade or have the dealer pay off the total owed ($16,070.88) and trade in for a new car. According to Edmunds' my car is worth about $14,684.00 so I would still be underwater a bit. Also would get a prorated refund for the two maintenance packages I had signed up for once the vehicle was paid off. Decisions, Decisions. Unfortunately there are no 2020 Hatchbacks on the dealer's lots yet to test drive.

Hi all,

The decisions about which Civic to get is getting harder.
I have gotten an email from the Vehicle Acquisition Specialist from the local Honda dealer talking about how I am coming to the end of my lease and they possibly could waive my last few payments and they are looking for more used cars to add to their inventory. I am sure it is a come on to get me to come in and have them evaluate my car and make some money.
I am still kind of torn between a 2019 Sport Touring and a 2020 Sport Hatch and a 2020 Coupe SI. Unfortunately or fortunately the 2020 Hatches have not arrived yet and they don't even show the 2020 SI's as in transit yet.
I checked with Edmund's lease info and the 2019 hatches have a $1200 incentive, MF is .00089, and for the ST the RV is 52% while the Sport's RV is 56% for 15K/36 month lease in the Los Angeles County area. At this time Edmund's doesn't have the numbers for the 2020's so I would imagine the numbers may vary a bit from the 2019 numbers, but who knows.
Not sure what the numbers would be for the Coupe SI but with my arm injury I would be wise not to get a stick shift. Maybe instead I should get the Coupe Touring for all the bells and whistles.
I am sure I could get a 2019 Sport Touring somewhat discounted at this time of year especially as it gets closer to the end of the year.

Absolutely correct. No car lot in the country EVER needs more used cars. If they do, the auto auction has cars readily available at wholesale.

You are shopping for a deal, and not a car. You should figure out what's important to you and what you want, then find one that is a price you like.

You also are shopping based on /month. This is dumb as hell. You could (theoretically, no one would hang this paper) get in a Lamborghini for $200/month, but you'd be paying on the car for literally the rest of your life. Get a loan at less than 4% and 60 months or less. If you can't find that loan, work on your credit score and drive something cheaper. If that payment is too high, save up for a bigger down payment before you finance.
You are right of course. My problem is I get the itch to upgrade to the latest and greatest and I have to really do some self talk. I get this with cars and computer parts so I do a lot of self talking. If I was perfectly honest, I really like my current car 2017 Hatch Sport but I would love to get the interior upgrades the 2020 Hatch Sport offers. I think the SI and Touring trims are way out of my financial means at this time especially when you combine car payment and insurance payment.

IMO i would pay off the car wait. Then use the car you currently own to trade in & get value. Everyone wants stuff so quick they lose patience. 2020 isnt going anywhere theres 12 years round.

I have had used cars in the past and most often they turned out to have issues that cost more than the car was worth. I have also had one new car that had a lot of issues within 9 months of ownership. I am bit gun shy about purchasing used cars cause I have had bad luck with them. I like owning new cars cause I know what has been done to them, how the car was driven and that new car smell.;)
My current lease is the first time I have leased a car and I must say it has its good points and bad points like everything else in life. Right now, if I sell the car to the dealer I do have some positive equity and who knows what will happen in the next 4-5 months of the lease.
To be honest I really like the Hatchback Sport Trim and how Honda has upgraded it for the 2020 model year. Who knows what upgrades Honda will pull out of the hat for the 11th generation but that is a few years away.
I wish I could drive a stick cause then I could get a Hatchback Sport with manual but alas my disabled right arm would have a permanent fit about that. My work injury was a repetitive motion injury so stick shifts are out. But I must say my 2017 Hatchback Sport (CVT) does not disappoint in commuting or driving the back roads a bit aggressively. :drive:

I do enjoy reading the feedback and the various opinions folks have. By the way, not to be to persnickety, but I am a she not a he.
