My 2016 Civic EX (57k miles) popped up with MM codes 3 and 7 during my last oil change. So as I was shopping around for prices on the brake and cvt fluid changes, one of the shops said I didn't have to do either until 100k miles. They said if I still wanted to get both fluids changed, they'd charge $100 for brake fluid and $120 for cvt.

I realize this is the opposite problem many people run into, since shops/dealers tend to recommend fluid changes more frequently, not less. This particular shop is one of the most highly rated in the area, so I hesitate to just discount their recommendation. I read in the owners manual that cvt fluid should be done as early as 25k for low speed mountain driving and brake fluid should be done every 3 years if MM doesn't show it. I had my cvt fluid changed before 20k miles already anyway (thanks honda dealer...)

So what do you guys think? Anybody else hear the 100k fluid change interval?

The manual is correct, brake fluid (DOT 3 & 4) absorbs moisture, brake service, including servicing the calipers, should be done at 3 years minimum. My Honda tech ( a personal friend, who is Honda Master Certified) reccomends changing the CVT fluid every 25-30k if you're going to keep the car, fluid is relatively cheap, CVTs are not. BTY, he's seen some real problems when CVT fluids other than the OEM Honda are used. Having spent 25 years servicing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing medical equipment, I'm a real believer in PREVENTATIVE maintenance. A CVT failure won't kill you (other than financially) but, a brake system failure can! Just as an aside, I generally change oil/filter at 5-7.5k intervals, and also do a Blackstone Labs oil analysis at each change. Coming from a Biomedical background, I'm probably somewhat OCD about maintenance, but I'd rather err on the side of being conservative, all things considered
