Once you turn off traction control u cannot change driving modes. It wont work on +R mode.

Mine is different for my 2018 CTR. If you press and hold the traction control button in any mode, it will show "VSA off" on the dash. If you want to truly turn it off all the way, put the car into +R mode and then press and hold the traction control button until it beeps and says "VSA fully off" on the dash.

I haven't done any testing once turning off the VSA, but I have gone through the process of turning it off, fully off (in +R mode) and then back on again.

Pressing and holding to get "VSA fully off" does not disable the entire VSA/AHA/etc. computer, which is what 'maintenance mode' (the pedal dance) does.

Ah, I was not aware those steps don't fully turn everything off (I was going off of page 508 of the Owner's Manual). I won't be turning it off anyway, but it is good information to know.

My question is, what else changes in maintenance mode? Is it really worth it?

So is evveryone tracking without the VSA completely off?
If you're new, I would suggest you don't fully turn it off, but if you understand car control and are more advanced, the VSA not fully off interferes more than it helps. I run with it fully off, the CTR is very easy to control at the limit.

So on the type R sounds like there are three levels of traction control OFF:

•VSA OFF (push the traction control button once)
•VSA FULL OFF (Put in type R and press and hold traction control button)
•VSA FULL OFF diagnostic/dyno mode (pedal dance)

I don’t think the pedal stuff is worth it on an R. If the si driver had an R, just put in R mode and hold the button.

Yeah. I'll probably leave it on for now. Still getting used to learning how to drive a FWD car. haha.

Can someone definitively tell me what VSA fully off actually does? Not theories, but actual working knowledge of what it does.

I keep hearing people say driving around with VSA off is so much more fun, blah, blah, but no one has been able to say why exactly.

Does it allow the car to oversteer a bit easier?

VSA totally off (pedal dance) does this:
