I just swapped over to the Hawks HP. Tire Rack had it on close out for 100 dollars.

I’ve been driving around for a week. Honestly there isn’t much difference in feel for street driving. You’re not hammering the brakes so you will not experience brake fade. Install was super easy and I don’t have to clean my wheels once a week.

Brake Service Done:

Centric Ventilated FR Rotors
Centric RR Rotors
Hawk HPS 5.0 FR and RR Brakes
Old Brake Fluid Flushed

Impressions:

The initial bite is really strong if you get on the brakes hard. Abs can be challenged very easily. They are super quiet as of now I havent heard any brake squeal.

If I hate brake dust, what are my best options? I know some dust is inevitable but I would like to minimize as much as I can.
Akebono ASP1001 for the front and ACT1878 for the rear. They are only good for the street and not for any tracking events.

yeah man, they're great. After a few 100 miles, they got better imo. No more screeching and brake dust lol

surprised there's not one mention about the pagid RSL29's (aka rs29).
in the UK, the price is the same but next to no useful info on the endless mx72. The RSL's seem to get nothing but rave reviews for track duty even though i've not yet upgraded to 'em.
so far i've not had much luck with the pMu HC800's. faultless on the road but i've ran through a pair on track as i keep cooking 'em. i've changed some things on the car and session time will be shorter next time to see how things cope.

Last I checked Pagid doesn't have a pad combination that works front and rear. Do you have part numbers? I ran Pagids on the rally car for years and would run them on the Type R (although the car was fine last year with Hawks).

not seen anything pagid for the rear (either FK2 or FK8, they are slightly different). fronts are the same on both - direct link

... so you shouldn't be surprised, as you just gave the reason nobody is mentioning Pagid :). Tuning or bypassing the Continental braking computer with its EBD, AHA, and (integration into) VSA algorithms is way beyond what most are capable of/willing to do. It isn't like you can just put different pads front and rear - well, you can, but if weird sh*t happens in certain braking situations, e.g., split-mu braking with ABS (and thus EBD) triggering on and off, then it's on you. Good luck.

The CarboTech XP8 were remarkable at the dragon! Felt like throwing an anchor out of the car and I looked it all over afterwards. Burnt all the CRC Disc Quiet glue but the pads / rotors looked flawless. Better wear than stock and held up with some serious braking.

Which Rotors are you using? I was a huge fan of the Carbotech xp8 on my old Mini JCW, looking to get them for my Type R but the ones on the Mini used to EAT through rotors.

Centrics. Flawless rotors for cheap... I wish they did slotted rather than drilled in the front but they mirror the OEM rotors perfectly.

So far after many different pad I have try I would say PFC 08 Compound is the best, quiet on street (Still make noise but totally acceptable) and crazy stopping power on track. and they don't wear out a set of brand new pad like other after 2-3 track day. the track i go is high speed.

I dont see any mention of the Winmax compounds - I was thinking about W5. Anyone run those?

Hey Guys and Gals!

Wanted to update you on my brake pad selection and results. Dory now has over 41,000 miles and on her 3rd set of pads! :headbang:
I replaced the OEM with Hawk HB453N.585. Again, I DD my CTR and track a few times/year. THESE pads were wayyyyyyy better than the OEMs on the track! That was a pro. The cons......VERY dusty and noisy! Squealed intermittently and was annoying for DD. Pads lasted just over 20,000 miles and that was with 2 track days. I recently put on Project Mu Type PS F906. I LOVE THEM! Quiet and wayyyyyy less dust! Haven't been to the track with them Yet but the garage owner I go to races a GTR and an S2000 and swears by these pads!

Just another option for those who DD and track occasionally!

Have a GREAT day!:nixon:
