Yeah it's ultimately why a lot of people who deal with headlights just collectively call LED drop-in trash. Because even at the high end of performance with a half decent beam pattern that decent replicates halogen, it's still not stellar.

I've made a post elsewhere describing 2Stroke 2.0 in our projectors as "10/10 would recommend" but that's in the context of other drop-in LED bulbs, only.
I agree that the 2stroke 2.0s are better and they should be.. they are 145 dollars a pair. That'd be roughly 435 dollars if someone wanted to upgrade all the lights including fogs. Though i'm sure you can buy them for lower than the MSRP. To me that is way more than I'm willing to spend on lights. I'm still happy with the Nineos especially the price versus performance.

Sorry to have hijacked your thread
There is a definite hierarchy in our headlight options. It's great you found a moderately priced option you are happy with an have shared it.

I'll probably save up for a backup housing and try a retrofit. I've got an hid set up I'll be trying as a drop in as well as trying out an h9 conversion. The pics I've seen of them look promising

I know others have already done these things, but none are together, and what I've found has been buried in other threads. I'll make a thread with my own findings combined once I get it together

no worries. I'll keep my eye out for the thread or post a link to it here. I'd like to see your results. I'd be interested to see if someone came up with a mod to increase the capability of drop in LED kits. Something cheap and easy that a lot of people could do instead of paying hundreds.

In an unsurprising twist I still love the LED headlights I used. No regrets.

Retrofitting an HID kit onto these vehicles is the brightest option. LEDs have poor performance in the inclement weather. In the future I think LED bulbs are going to take over. But for now HIDs will be superior and always have been superior than any other option for lighting. (Except the new laser technology coming out)
I ran led headlights for a year and now 4 months with morimoto xB hid, the performance while driving in the rain were the same. Not much improvement over led.
