I’ve asked @Two Step Performance the question above. Hoping to get an answer, but I’d like to hear feedback from those who may know for certain.

Is there a power/whp gains difference between the Tsp stage 1 tune with Race maf vs the street maf?

So for instance one is running Cobra Race Maf and the other is running Cobra Street Maf both on tsp stage 1 tune?

Does one tune make more power simply because it’s a bigger MAF housing? Just wondering. I know you need the Race Maf tune in order to run the Race Maf, I’m just wondering if there’s a gain if any on the tune HP wise or difference.

You can only use the race MAF tune if you have the PRL Race MAF housing. The MAF housing allows more airflow, which allows more power. The tune simply accommodates the MAF housing.

Yes, I understand that. I know what each does. I just wanted to know if there’s a difference. I’m going from stock airbox “Street maf” tsp 1 tune to Cobra Race with tsp Race tune. Just wanting to know if there was a difference. Say one car had the cobra on street maf with tsp 1 and the other car has Cobra Race maf with tsp race tune.

Essentially, more airflow potential = more power potential. In my very unscientific butt dyno estimation, the race MAF feeds more than enough air so the car doesn't feel like it's running out of steam up top. If you're tuning anyway, I don't see much reason to not go with the race MAF.
As stated above, I want to know the difference between the two. Essentially getting a custom tune once I get the big turbo kit as a stage once seems fine for a fbo car. Just want to know if one would be faster than the other or make more power.

The race MAF car is going to make more power. The margin is going to depend on what other mods the vehicle has. For example, if you upgrade the turbocharger, you will reap much more benefit from the larger MAF housing than a stock turbo setup.

If you go read the post SleepyFC1 linked, you'll see the Cobra intake with race maf will give you almost 15whp, where a stage 1 intake will give you 3-5whp, maybe. So yes, if you have a tuner, go cobra race maf as there already is a setting to use it on the base maps and you will feel the difference between the 2. I would definitely have gone for the cobra intake if I had an american car as I don't want to deal with the hassle of moving my WW set-up to the other side and losing 1/2 the capacity.

So basically, it would be dumb of me to buy a PRL intake with a street MAF if I plan to buy a ktuner?
I should buy the race maf instead for more power...:drive:

This is essentially the conclusion that I came to based upon my research. I've been running my SRI with Race MAF on a TSP Stage 1 tune for some time now, and it's ran great!

See... I wanted to / was thinking about running the PRL SRI before getting tuned, but then I'd have to buy the street maf first and then have to spend more money later for a race maf. :rolleyes1:

Decisions, Decisions...

If you plan on flashing back to stock (visits to the dealer, etc.) Then you certainly need both MAFs. You can't flash back to stock and drive around with the race MAF installed. Swapping them would be part of your flash back procedure.

not to sound overly cautious but if you have ANY CAI or even and intercooler part of your procedure before going back to dealer should be removal of all aftermarket parts returning it to 100% stock anything less and you have opened the door for a hassle.
