Just wondering what this plastic notch is/does/has any function? Sedan and hatch don’t have it.

I figure its just a guide when rolling up the window at highway speeds. Air oressure inside the cabin may cause the large window to bow out a little more than a smaller sedan window. This is just a guess on my part.

So, i noticed this too. My 8th gen coupe had it as well. But my 9th gen coupe did not. Now the 10th gen coupes have it again.... i always assumed it was some sort of window guide (as previous poster stated) but not 100% sure. I don't see what other possible function it would have... but why did the 8th and 10th gens have it but not the 9th? (especially given that the 9th gens were more mechanically and structurally identical to the 8th)

Everybody's instincts are good. The Coupe has a longer door, hence a longer window. Leverage works against the longer length. Without the guide, the window could jam without seating.

After giving it more thought, i was still perplexed why my 9th gen coupe didn't have the guide, then i remembered, the 9th gen coupes windows were not as wide as the 8th or 10th gen coupes, because honda had that little mini window at the front of the door, and the side mirrors were seated further back, hence, it didn't need the notch to guide it like the larger 8th and 10th coupe windows that actually are the full width of the doors more or less.

When I asked about that many moons ago on the 8thcivic forum the response was they were there to equalize cabin pressure, I was never able to get more info than that, I have no idea how they would achieve that.
