Im looking at you MazdaHopefully, we'll get more cars like this for the US consumers. I feel like there hasn't been too many affordable performance cars in the segment so hopeful this will encourage other car makers to join in and make some pretty cool sports cars.
The CTR already has an aluminum hood.Actually, I'm glad they did this. Now Honda will try to up their game. A bump of 20-30hp should be easy. I'd go to 255 for a tire width. Aluminum hood and trunk will save some weight. May need some better shocks/struts. That should be enough to get them to down to a 7:39.
The Type R wasnt exactly a full production car when it ran the Nurburg Ring either.IMO 3 seconds is not a lot of time consider what Renault had to do to beat the Type R. Plus this car won’t be attainable by the average consumer. It’s basically production vs non production.
I think Honda's pretty credible when they say it was representative of production specs. You are staking your corporate reputation on these record attempts, and if there is any possible performance advantage they secretly had and kept it secret, it would be a huge risk to their credibility and for no real gain. Notice, for example, they were up front in that the record attempt used Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. If the car wasn't fast enough, then they were in a position, as development engineers, to actually make the car faster in a legitimate way. That's the purpose of all that work. No need to cheat. The Type R wasnt exactly a full production car when it ran the Nurburg Ring either.
LoL that is getting into not really a realistic kind of DD car.https://www.motor1.com/news/350661/renault-megane-rs-nurburgring-record/
WIth time comes progress, I'm sure Honda has something up their sleeves.
Epic performance by yet another car we can't have in the states.
"To achieve the quicker time, the Megane RS Trophy-R goes on quite a diet to shed 287 pounds (130 kilograms). Renault doesn't yet explain how this weight loss happens, though. The model allegedly has no rear seats and comes standard with a rollcage both for safety on the track and for added stiffness. Plexiglas windows would also save a few pounds."
Damn that's a hell of a diet LOL.
All records are meant to be broken. Well done Renault

beating the Type R with a race car that is no longer streetable?? that is hardly fair! I guess this is what it comes to nowadays...I'd said this again! other car companies have to rely on race car component to beat our Type R's, then this speaks VOLUME for our Type R!Exactly!
