How it happened isn't important, but I've got a pretty gnarly, but fairly small scratch on the inside of my windshield near the corner on the driver's side.

I'm aware that deep scratches can't be removed entirely and the windshield would need to be replaced to deal with it the right way, but I'm not gonna do that for one little scratch. That being said, knowing that it's there is driving me insane. It's not in my line of sight, and it's not bad enough to make me concerned for the integrity of the windshield.

Do any of you know of a method or product I can use to diminish the appearance of it enough so that I might be able to... forget it's there?

The simpler/easier the better. There's not a lot of room to manuever where it is, and I'm not trying to break out any power tools.

A good hammer smash anywhere on the window would probably diminish the appearance of any small crack;)

As for real advice I’m not too sure but I bet a pic of the scratch would be a good place to start with.

Also I hope I’m not speaking just for myself but starting off with how it happened isn’t important just begs for the question of how did this happen???

Lol I knew it was gonna happen. I was removing a suction cup holder thing from the windshield, had something in my hand, slipped, scratched windshield.

Just looking for an easy to use polish or something to make it less noticeable, instead of waiting for a decent rock on the highway to do some real damage so I can get insurance to cover a replacement lol.

I am not sure on the effectiveness as (luckily) I never had to use it, but I saw some epoxy-based (i think) glass crack repair kit. It was intended for glass crack to prevent the windshield from cracking further, but it will cover the scratch if applied expertly.

Another option is to put a sticker or something there like a car entrance pass.

Yet another option is to call a glass repair shop - they should have the correct polishing equipment to make the scratch unnoticeable.

Or if your car is tinted, maybe it is just the tint that was scratched. In which case, re-do the tint for the windshield

Just be cautious though that polishing the glass yourself is not easy. Tried polishing a pair of eyeglasses (for home use) once .... and I have a new set now :D
