These articles reference "ecu upgrade chips". Excuse my ignorance, but something like a KTuner is not a chip per say, but more of an ECU programmer. I don't know if this changes anything. These articles provide some good info, but I am not 100% sure how accurate they are.

From @KTuner as of October 2017. I assume if American Honda got involved they could dig deeper into the ECU than a dealer could. If you break your engine (throw a rod, blow a turbo) because of tuning then you should pay for that. The gray area becomes if there is something defective with the engine and the claim gets denied. But this seems more likely if you are really pushing the tune. And if you are doing that then really you should be prepared to pay for stuff that breaks IMO.

What about a plug-in piggyback tune like JB4 from Burger Motorsports? I know that the guys on the VW forum say that this is supposedly undetectable. I know that it is for German cars, but is there an option like that for us? I went the website, and what they offered was for "Track Only".
Whenever you "push" your engine, the dealer, on behalf of Honda America, has the right to refuse to do a warranty repair.

No, I don't own one. For informational purposes only.

Realistically, all of us that are tuned are taking a risk with related warranty work. That's why unless you really know what you're doing, you should probably just run the base tunes or have your car pro tuned only. Plus, you can't go around launching your car or racing it all the time. In normal daily use, I believe Hondata and Ktuner have tested extensively and I feel the tunes are basically conservative and will keep the reliability.

its odd because that one bald guy jason who is always promoting honda's shit even made a video pushing ppl to use hondata.

makes me wonder if honda actually gave him the ok to do that video. because honda definitely wouldnt honor a claim if they found out you used hondata to flash the ecu.
This is the Honda PRO and now your warranty is in the “NOoooo!!”

True. But he's not promoting warranty fraud.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. No wonder Dorothy got caught up.

I have been reading these mods from ktuner and Hondata. I would wish for a little more power and more importantly, to remove the rev hang.

Not sure if I would do it because of the warranty. I bought the extended warranty so I do not want to give Honda reasons to refuse warranty claims. There is no reason for Honda to honour the warranty if we put additional load to the engine and transmission.

The exact thing I am concerned is the time stamps of the connection attempts.
Does your car have Bolt ons?
