Update 11/26/17

I am still having trouble doing this correctly or smoothly from a dead stop. I've only practiced it twice on the track like this and once on the street (from a dead stop). At Atco Raceway, I was doing it perfectly, while driving in 'L' gear. The rpm would ramped up very quickly to 6000rpm, then temporarily go back to 5000rpm after the wheels started spinning and traction control came on, then go back to 6000rpm. I tried it again at Cecil County Raceway in 'L' gear twice and got bad results. Then tried it in 'D' and 'S' gear/mode and the results were slightly worse than simply flooring the gas pedal.

While the car is already moving, like on the highway or even moderate speed, it works beautifully. No issues here! It's just from a dead stop my results are mixed. I will need some more practice before being able to give input from a dead stop.

As for the flaming out the exhaust, if you have a tune (Even base tune) and a catless exhaust, put your gear in 'L' and simply floor the gas pedal. Once your rpm reaches 6000rpm, you may be able to see flames out of your tailpipe and machine gun backfire coming out the rear of your car. Ask me how I know. Totally off topic but since you took it there, there you have it. Back to topic!

have you tried my L to S gear shift between 47-57 mph yet, I noticed L has a bad range and slows down right about there if you pop it into S it allows the CVT to "Shift", and lets you continue in the higher range

Might have to try this technique. I was rolling on the hwy today and was on a flyover when I got behind a really dog slow driver. I punched it and the CVT bogged down around 5k rpm. I managed to pass the other car but man I felt like I hit molasses.

What's weird is that I think I've inadvertently done the two-step technique in the past and the Civic acted like a bat outta hell. It was crazy different passing speed than my first example.

I haven't tried this. Will have to test it out and see what it does. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nothing has changed though. Car accelerates faster this way. I wish I didn't move the camera so quickly now in the video but doing the Myxal Two-Step, the rpm had already quickly maxxed out and shifted, which was the point I was trying to make. It may have not been clear that the car reached peak rpm and shifted. May do another short video.

YO Myx, absolutely loving the 2-step!!!! MY GOD what a difference as opposed to just "matting' the accelerator! Should have learned about this a LONG time ago. doesnt matter the speed the thing just LUNGES forward so much harder :headbang:

It's real, I have a straight backroad that has very little traffic. Tried it one morning on the way to work and pinned me back pretty good and reached to about 75 before I shat myself. Thanks for the tip and fun! :D

With the shifter in D and above 45 / below 70 - simply use the Paddle Shifters and move down to 3rd then shift to 4th at or near 5500-5600rpm.

I have no paddle shifters. Didn't in my Honda Fit either. Which is where I learned this. ;)

Hi, Myx I tried your two-step today many times and I love it, am I going to break my cvt if I keep doing your 2step? Thanks for any inputs.

Well, I learned to do this on my 2015 Honda Fit LX CVT. When measuring torque, it would skip over the midrange torque peak and go straight to high rpm. It wouldn't even measure the midrange torque. So it was actually less stress doing this on my transmission since it showed less torque. I doubt you'd be breaking your transmission sending less torque through it but making it travel faster at the same time.

It does 'feel' to good to be true though. Like....wait a minute, how can I travel faster doing this without anything negative happening? :hmm:

Hi Myx, is it ok to clean Maf sensor in our car, cause my car I think the maf got a little bit dirty ( 2016 civic touring) when the car idling for a period of time the ltft would shoot up -13, but when car is running it would goes down -5 and when stuck in traffic it be -10, thanks for any inputs. By the way your 2 step is rock man, still loving it.

You are welcome! Yes, it is ok to clean. I have sprayed electrical cleaner on the maf sensor with good results, on my previous vehicles. I absolutely knew they were dirty though.... from experimentation/testing intake stuff. Good luck!
