I am debating if i should do a custom tune.

I have a sport hatch manual.
Things i have on it are
Performance wise, i have these mod
- PRL catless DP FP (might switch to catted )
- PRL FMIC kit with piping
- PRL Cobra CAI
- Type R oem exhaust (like it not too loud)

Handling wise, i have
- type R Rear sway bar
- type R subframe bracket
- Ultra racing front strut bar
- ksport coilover
- rays with michelin ps4s
- 6p bbk with 14" drill slot 2pcs rotor

I am planning to go to track this summer.
Right now i have hondata +9 basemap calibrated, the car is good but i feel like it can handle alot more.

I am not going to do any drop in turbo as it means i need Emann clutch, flywheel, LSD trans... too much money down the drain..

So i think i am all done for this sport hatch. I also have a Type R coming in next month and will start working the R instead.

I am wondering if custom tune will help my sport hatch significantly compare to the +9 tune now?

Or is it just a minimal gain? Please advice

I'm sure a custom tune will be a noticeable improvement... but...

You say you have a Type R coming? I think you have your answer. You've done enough to your Sport hatch IMO. Time to play with the R.

Yes. The ctr will be here in june.
I have spent lots of time and money with the sport hatch past year in trying to make it an awesome car both performance and aesthetic. I think i did a pretty good job on it so far. However, I feel unfinished at the moment. I have been holding on for a custom tune because i thought i will put a drop in turbo. As now I am pretty sure i wont do that anymore so I feel like doing a custom dyno tune will wrap up my work on the hatch. I got a quote here with a highly rated local tuner here, it will cost me around cad$650 (US$500)
I keep on thinking ... if it worth doing it?

I want my hatch to be perfect, but it kind of stupid doing it especially it will just be my wife driving it afterward, and she drives it for groceries and pick up kids only..

If you have the money, why not custom dyno tune just for the heck of satisfaction. I myself got a dyno tune and was able to push extra 30hp and 40tq over e40 basemap, even better overall power throughout the rpm. My local tuner charged me $300, quite cheap and effective compared to etune imo. For $500, I'd expect the tuner to know exactly how to tune 10th gen, such as lowering boost past 5400rpm so it's not just keep dumping fuel where it's not needed since power drops on stock turbo and so that it's not taxing the fuel system etc, all those little details. For $300, I was able to best multiple 350z with unknown mods. Performance doesn't matter for daily, but is nice to have imo. I would recommend even for a daily if it's modified that much, can be better for the engine with the right tune.

The tuner is mainly work with subies...not really a 10th gen tuner. He does seems very knowledgeable according to others comment.

How about etuner ? Does etune works as good as custom tune?

I never done etune but I definitely don't like the idea of it. Doing multiple runs on the streets, waiting for weeks or even months just to get quality tune. To give a perspective of my dyno tune compared to si, only way for me to lose to si(stock turbo of course) is if they go e85. I'm already on e85 flex fuel but for running 21psi boost with flex fuel, I am able to best si that run about 25psi. Si turbo pushes more air and more psi than base.

Do you have a hatch sport? What mod you have in your car?
It is very tempting for me to dyno tune mine after hearing from you...judt for the sack if feeling satisfaction.

I got the car and after 3-4 months. I've already put 5k miles and full bolts. Intake, intercooler, downpipe-full exhaust, ktuner, flex fuel, dyno tune. I've just worked on my handling recently and loved driving my car more than ever. My instagram is @type_sport if you want to check the build a bit lol

Thats cool. Too bad we have no flex fuel here in canada. Or else it wilm be an easy way to add hp..

Best thing to help cornering is good tires like michelin ps4s.. invest on them if u track

Just followed u on instagram... what turbo did u drop in?? Do u need to switch the clutch and lsd trans??
Ur car is a sleeper car.. Opposite of my hatch...
I literally get cut off by ag least 5 sport cars each day because of how my hatch looks.
Today a cayman honk at me from behind at the red light.. and he drove pass me and cut me off...
Too bad i have 3 kids in my car today and cant unleash myself, it is not like my hatch beat the cayman but if would be fun to see how it runs compare to cayman
