I know this guy!! He's that cat guy no one likes....... :hide:

LOL - in all seriousness, you guys can reach out to me on my instagram or facebook pages, happy to chat/review/give advice on stuff.

And yes, crashed the R doing exactly what I wanted to do with it - racing it. I'll put her back together and bounce back :drive:

That looks like a terrible track. So many things wrong about the condition and setup.

The main thing is that you are okay. Cars are replaceable. Still sucks, but at least it was while racing, not from some drunk or distracted driver while you were grand-mothering it (as if) down to the grocery store.

Summit is a fantastic park, and each course is well maintained. Not sure why you'd say that.

Unfortunate learning experience.
Driving point learned should be simply off the accelerator and control w/o applying the brakes.

Yea, the track itself is EXTREMELY challenging. I've been to NJMP (both tracks), NY Safety Track, Watkins Glenn, Palm Beach and Pocono, Shenandoah has been the bumpiest one with the least amount of runoff I've ever seen. I should have probably taken that as a hint to slow down, but I really wanted to make the Type R proud and bring home the best time possible.

I'm working on videos, editing, my day job, getting my BB6 Prelude prepped for racing in June, along with everything else, but I wanted to share an update here:

  • I didn't have competition insurance - car is mine, my wallet was my insurance
  • .Insurance would have totaled the car out - the area where the front door mounts to took a lot of the hit
  • I am 95% sure I am rebuilding - already sourced most if not all parts for relatively cheap
  • Car won't be back to showroom spec - it'll be rebuilt as a track/race car, with roll cage, gutted interior etc...
  • I'll go over the crash in a video, but quickly, bumps unsettled the rear of the R, I was at partial throttle all the way through (neverlift), and I didn't want to overcorrect the same way I've seen so many other cars do. I should have full throttled it, but I was very quickly in the grass, tough to recover anything while half your car is on the pavement, the the other half in the grass...
more updates as we get going, be talking to you guys soon

Why suck? He can always buy another one.
Is this a joke? I assume he does well for himself by the way he buys toys but that was probably a pretty big financial hit unless it was somehow completely covered.

Between us gals, I do ok. I work a lot (day job as a director of operations for a large accounting firm, multiple real estate properties and rentals, Youtube) and have been saving/investing as much as possible through my 20s. I'm 32 now, so the BIGGEST hit by far has been and will be the time lost due to this.

I can't race or be at the track for at least 2-3 more weeks, I now have to spend time looking for parts, learn how to fix bent metal, and rebuild the car (that or find someone trustworthy, wrap up the car, ship to this person, check up on the car etc...). Time, really, is the thing I have lost the most of when my car hit that wall.

It's basically 2-3 months of race time at peak season, and that by far is the worst part about this.

All good though, I look at this as an opportunity to build my own version of the Type R race car, something I did not think I'd do for many years.

Good luck on the rebuild @dominican. Makes perfect sense to rebuild since you're paying out of pocket. Hope to see her back on the track soon. Make some videos out of the rebuild process.
