I have the rattle also. I am headed to the dealer next week so they can take a look. I actually left the audio setting to what the delivery tech set them to when he was showing me the car. Volume around 10 I hear the rattle. It is especially bad if the seats are down. I downloaded an audio test tone generator app on android that allows me to play a tone at any frequency.

I plan on going in....asking the tech to turn the volume he would when listening to a good tune. Then I will switch to bluetooth source and output a 50hz tone and watch his face.
If they are like my local dealer, they will ask Honda for a solution which might be something like stuffing more foam in the trunk roof. It will not work. Honda is blaming this one user error of having the volume too high (how is even 15/40 too high? Even though I should be able to use at 25-35/40 if I want). Please check out the videos in my signature, call Honda at that number I listed, and also file a complaint with the BBB

Granted this is a design flaw- but this is funny at the same time- in initial Honda handling of it.

I remember when I had a new Lexus 1992 ES300 had about 2 touch sensitive knobs in my entertainment console (cd/cassette/etc) protrude just maybe- 1/4 inch from every other knob- granted I did purchase an 8 year Lexus Extra Care Platinum Warranty- but it was already expired over a year by then- showed the dealer- (dealer I purchased from)- said- come back in a week or so- they ordered a brand new entertainment unit- I looked at bill when job was done a week or so later- Warranty work charged to Lexus $2500+... me- nothing plus the usual free car wash

Funny thing is i went to the store and saw another guy with a touring he literally ran towards my car and the first thing he asked me was if i had the rattling told him yes he said him too! I think all tourings have this problem! I have a app tomorrow at the dealer they said they gonna put foam or isolate the trunk or something they also said i wasn't the first one complaining about this particular problem!! Will test it tomorrow when i get the car back!

I too have an open case with Honda Corporate. I spoke to my case manager yesterday and he said that he would be in contact with my dealer and that he would call me back by next Monday.

I just opened a case and am waiting to hear back from a regional manager as well. The dealership tried to fix the rattle with foam, but the it came back in full force after like 3 hours -_-

So I went to the dealer. Reproduced it to 2 service guys. They confirmed it. I came back 6 hours later to pick it up. Could not reproduce. "Called Honda tech line, they advised to tighten speakers".

I walked out, first song on the radio......rattle. I am going to have to take care of this myself.

Please, check the video in my sig and call Honda! Get them to make a case for it. At least for others who share this problem, it'll help.

I fixed 99% of the rattle in mine yesterday!

I had already applied a pack of Dynamat to the front doors and trunk.

Here's what else I did:
-bought a 50ft roll of commercial closed cell foam tape ($12)
-bought two packs of closed cell "air conditioner installation foam" ($8 each)
-pack of Velcro ($unsure - I already owned it)

All was applied from within the trunk:

1) I secured the rear parking light by applying tape around the housing then stuffing it in, filling all other "holes" nearby with air conditioner foam.

2) I secured the trunk light (white light) by applying tape around the rectangular area inside and out and getting it back in (it becomes a very tight fit)

3) I stuffed air conditioner foam every where I could find an opening (mostly closest to the rear of the rear deck) - the idea is to damp the entire rear deck assembly by creating tension (using the foam to gently stop resonance and push up on the rear deck)

4) I removed the trunk liner carpet thing - it was a source of rattling because it's so flimsy. I attached Velcro (just the hook part) to the sides (underneath) where the plastic is. This secures it to the carpet on the sides and prevents it from flopping around from the sub.

5) I found the major source of the rattle - the rear trunk latch plastic cover. I removed it (it's the plastic all along the bottom edge of trunk trunk opening), applied closed cell foam tape on contact points and stuffed air conditioner foam in the openings of the sheet metal. There's little plastic feet to stabilise it against the sheet metal - those are what rattled the most. I applied closed cell foam tape to those. Then I reinstalled it (the bottom and sides have to go in with a top-down mention first, then the top.

6) I also velcro'd my down firing sub down and I applied closed cell foam tape to every possible plastic frictions point (speaker wires, amp cable, etc.)

Keep in mind that I have two aftermarket subs so your rattle is not likely to be an issue as bad as mine was if you have the stock sub.

Good news!

I had previously brought my car to the dealership and they had told me that because Honda had no published fix for this rattling issue, they wouldnt be able to do anything.

Since then I have been in contact with Honda Customer Support and was assigned a Case manager. Over the past two weeks my Case Manager has been in touch with my dealership and today was my appointment for them to attempt a fix as suggested by the Honda Tech line.

When I went to pick up my car they mentioned that it was a long process, taking over 3 hours for them to do. Unfortunately my service writeup only references my case number and doesn't go into detail regarding the fix. I asked for some more info and they mentioned that when they had first contacted Honda Tech Line support, they were told there wasn't a fix, but then the dealership said they requested the fix again and this time they received an email with what I can assume to be some sort of TSB. I asked what was done and they said they did take apart the whole rear seat to remove the rear deck and then they applied dynamat or "foam tape" as they called it between the rear deck sheet metal and the plastic. I think they also mentioned adding foam specifically to the "lip" area, which I'm assuming is the lip where rear deck meets rear window.

I poked my head up into the trunk and looked around the inside of the cabin around the rear deck, and it looks completely like it did before. But as soon as I turned on my music, i was met with the most beautiful sound. The lack of rattling is amazing! I was concerned that maybe whatever they did would "muddle" or dampen the sound of the subwoofer but I can't say that it has. It sounds very similar to how it did before, except without the rattling. In one song that I tried so far I even noticed extra bass notes in the song that I hadn't previously recognized. It seems that the subwoofer now may be more responsive, but thats probably just a result of the rear deck having more mass and a sturdier foundation for the subwoofer speaker.

I have to say I believe my problem is fixed!

If you are experiencing this issue, please contact Honda Customer support, describe your issue, get assigned a case manager, and then hopefully your case manager can work with your dealer to provide a fix. It took me just under 3 weeks from initially calling Honda Customer Service to setting up this appointment and having a fix applied.
