I'm just curious on why people are changing their shift knob? I'm more than happy with the stock one, looks great, easy to handle and just goes with the vehicle.

If I had a Civic sport I would consider changing it but other than that I think Honda did a good job with the Si's.

I really like the design of the factory shift knob. If I had another car with a different knob, I would probably be looking for something exactly like this one. But after I installed the Acuity shifter, the factory knob no longer offers the right shape for a comfortable grip. When shifting from the wrist, the size is appropriate. When shifting with the whole arm, it is notably undersized. And the Acuity shifter does not allow you to shift unless you really mean it.

Edit: Until this launches sometime next month, I'm still using the factory knob

I heard through the grape vine with an aftermarket shift knob you gain more HP and driving skills:dance:

Still don't know if I will change it, but getting my hand burned in the summer sucks, and the little condom my wife made for it just looks so wrong... I do like to look and size of the stock knob though.
Hopefully there's no lube on your "little condom"

I use the dust cloth I keep in the car to clean the dog fur off the dash on the shifter until it cools down...

I switched to a Skunk2, and love the weight of it, but it’s a little too high and it doesn’t feel as good in the palm of my hand as the stock one. Consequently I find myself constantly going back to stock. Ideally I want to find one that has the weight of the Skunk2, but the dimensions of the stock knob.

My car sits in the Sun all day while I'm at work. I got tired of burning my hand 5 nights a week, so I changed it. The stock knob looks and feels great if it doesn't burn you.

I've yet to swap mine. I'm using the buddy club short shifter and it feels fine. I keep a micro fiber cloth in the car for dust anyway so I just cover the shifter when it's hot. Cools down withing a few min.

For me, the top "cap" with the shift pattern digs into my hand after while of driving. The way it is raised over the leather irritates my palm. Maybe i should learn to shift better? Lol

Don't know what to replace with though.....

Stock knob looks great, feels pretty good. But the smallness and lightness exacerbate the cheap and notchy shifter feel imo.

One of the few mods where you can be really unique in my opinion. If you go through garages here on the forums... all of our civics look exactly the same. Lot of people with the red emblems, front lip/splitter, led lights, etc... but I highly doubt many people have the same shift knob as I do. Plus I like the heavier shift knob with my acuity shifter. I think the OEM shift knob would be a PITA to shift with my current setup.

I honestly like the Si one. Only complaint about it is the same one as everyone's. Getting burned when its time to leave in the afternoon. I made the switch to the OEM Type R shift knob due to it being a tad heavier than the Si's knob. Only thing is that the Type R shift knob is all metal where the Si is medal and mostly being leather. I've developed now being immune to second degrees burns on my right hand.

Did you weigh both knobs? What were the results?
