Yeah, that makes sense. Where are you located? It’s a market thing. In SoCal it still sells for $5-$10k ADM and test drives aren’t allowed.

It's not that hard to test drive one where I'm located. Some of the dealers I contact me ask me to come in for a test drive. The one dealer I just showed up without an appointment and they let me drive it. I guess it depends on your location, but the 19 Type Rs aren't moving like the previous years and the dealers once asking for adm are now charging MSRP.
Where you located? Not moving like previous years? Every deal I know in my area still sells every R they get most times same day they get them.

What’s comical is that you don’t understand the Type R.
I owned a DC2 R and have owned several heavily built Honda's. I know what the Type R is about and the purchase experience is a joke. BTW I was able to test drive the DC2 when I bought it.

You want to make more assumptions?

The experience is what it is because it's a car literally anyone with a job and shit credit can afford it, bringing in a lot of losers to the dealer while it ruins the experience for those of us that can purchase the car outright.

and has enough hype to where people just want to test drive it just to see what the hype is about and making dealers not want to give out test drives. I don't agree with it but if i was the dealer, i'd do the same tbh. Why give out test drives and have to deal with potential buyers complaining about miles when people buy it without one :dunno:

This is actually the second car in a row I've purchased without test driving (first was a 2010 Acura TL 6MT that was on the other side of the country due to rarity of MT and the fact I couldn't afford new). Hell, I never even sat in a TL before it was delivered to me...at least I got to do that in the Type R.

Fortunately, I've yet to be disappointed! Good luck OP.

Not here. I save both used and new Type Rs in the Cargurus app and they've been sitting for quite some time. It depends on the market. The used inventory of them has increased significantly in my area and are sitting due to dealers charging above MSRP. They still sell, but much slower in comparison to before.

Turnersville Honda in Southern NJ let me test drive a 2019 CTR. They have a little driving course on the property.

Weird. At our local dealer saw the strangest thing we still cant figure out. they had a used 17 R and a New 19 CW R. asked MSRP for the new and over 36 for the used... the used sold first??? NO mods or anything. All i can figure is it had the certified 7 year warranty. IM in NC so yeah I guess market. But Car gurus is crap. I wouldn't use it as a statistics site. there are thousands of listing on there that dealers dont have. New ones they are getting but dont have old ones they didn't remove the listing for. I once called about 15 car dealers asking about their listed Rs on car gurus and only 2 actually had the car.

The owner of the dealership I got mine from has a policy against selling new cars over MSRP. Doesn’t apply to used inventory though. Their first used one for sale had an asking price of about $43k and sold in a couple days. Of course that was back when they had a waiting list a year deep for new ones. Anyway...you’re probably right about extended warranty helping sell the 2017 first. Some people really care about badge numbers too and might have wanted a lower one.

Those who want the CTR don’t need to test drive it. Those who just want a joy ride and only care about horsepower, on a FWD mind you, do want to test drive it.

CTR buyers don’t want miles out of the gate and some random person driving their car. What’s the point of driving a CTR during the break in period, you learn nothing. Or is your plan to abuse it?

You can test drive an Accord during the break in period because you can appreciate what that car is by driving it A-B.

A CTR what are you gonna test? Whether or not the rattles are too few for your satisfaction?

I bought my '19 sight unseen and had never sat in one or even been up close to one. Now out of the 30+ cars I've had over the years best decision i've made. Never been more happy about a car even at 56yrs old. And, getting it a little MSRP didn't hurt either it did have 4 miles on it but, no big deal to me. This is one car that is everything they say it is and more. More smiles per mile than anything in it's price range :) IMHOP

Doubt it man, 15 is about normal. Most cars are taken for a bit of a test drive after coming off the line, then the small distances to move to transport / around a yard etc.. 15 is really low I wouldn't even bring it up as a downside to buying really, that's more than normal imo.

mjonesjr8, I did the same thing. I bought my '18 CTR sight unseen from another state. I rented a car drove a few hundred miles and drove it home. It was below 32 degrees and started snowing on my way home. I never had a car with track tires and was pretty nervous the whole way home! I figured I would stay straight and don't make any sudden moves. It all worked out okay. She handled very nice for me. BTW, I'm 58 and never been more happy about a car as well. Alan
