If you picked it up yesterday, remember there is a 48 hour cancellation under federal law. So they need to make good on it - or you can return it. I know the dealer does not want to deal with that...
LOL what??? The car was mostly likely damaged after OP took the car. Good luck proving it was done at the dealer prior to delivery when OP signed off on it before driving off.

The dealer doesn't have to do anything, this doesn't look to be a factory defect or warranty issue.

Maybe that is a law in your state (I would be surprised), but there is no federal law surrounding that. There is a law called the "cooling off law (some name like that) where it sates if a salesperson sells you something at your home door, you have a cooling off period, but that law clearly states it doesn't apply to car sales. Plus I would imagine buying a Type R the buyer is soliciting the dealer not the dealer soliciting the buyer...

Anyway OP as somebody else said do you have any pics of the front that you took prior to leaving dealer? If not check to see if the listing is still up and see if any noticiable or questionable damage is there. This will at least let you know if it was there when you bought it or not. If it was the dealer will and should take care of it, but if not there then I would start thinking about the places your parked it and see if they have any cameras as like other suggested due to how clean and debris free that grease is it suggests it wasn't lying on the ground as it would have picked up debris. Although to cause that kind of damage the hulk must have through it though... I am just surprised you didn't hear it or heck maybe even feel it at HWY speeds as that looks like a hard impact. hmmm what a mystery. Because of this mystery I really wonder if happened prior to purchase.

You see the picture where there is a large metal object in there that clearly struck it at speed right?
Could someone else have test drove it, caused the damage and the dealership just replaced some of the damaged parts and not all of them? Otherwise, I doubt that would get past a factory quality incoming inspection.

Did the dealer agree to take care of it?

Were you driving behind a tow truck or scrap hauler?

The 2nd picture of the bearing (TOP) and the 1st picture (BOTTOM).
The 1st picture definitely shows the "debris" others are questioning is not there. But, that 1st picture definitely shows the debris.
That bearing came from the upper right (while facing the car), impacted, and felt to the left.
As the OP mentioned:
The top of the grill was loose and was more than likely more toward the drivers side.

Better the IC than the windshield....man, what a hit.....

Can you please provide a link documenting that? I've never heard of "a 48 hour cancellation under federal law" for a car purchase. Thanks!

Road was pretty empty and we didn't hear anything but I was in comfort mode. Who knows... Figured I'd hear something that hefty hit the intercooler at that speed. I never drive closely behind any trucks, especially semi's.

Too late to know if it was like this when I picked up. I never would've thought to get that low and inspect an intercooler upon pickup of a new car.

Just bad luck I supposed but it's been great the last week.

I'm lucky it didn't go through the windshield or destroy my bumper or hood. At least a used oem intercooler is like $80 and I don't have to put a claim in through insurance.

Man. That is the craziest thing. I am not convinced that crack at the grille was at highway speeds and it would stay put together the way it is. I am somehow suspecting malice. A weird form of malice.

If it was at highway speeds, which I doubt, you’re lucky it didn’t hit the hood, fender or other harder to fix paint match part.

I'd definitely recommend PRL over all the others. Easy install, direct bolt in. Uses stock charge tubes and newer versions use stock bolts, no trimming, no additional parts.
How long did.it take you to install? I've been wanting one that is super easy to install and have been thinking of the prl ic myself

And the op said a used oem ic was only $80? Wow!

Thats because it doesn't exist as a federal law. Maybe a state law somewhere (doubt this as well, but I don't claim to know all state laws...). haha

I imagine you would see this damage in a photo if you took any of the front of the car prior to leaving dealer. I know I took pics before leaving to text to my friends like can you believe I finally found one for MSRP in white none the less. haha

Glad you found a cheap replacement!

Did you get the part number off the bearing? I’m dying to know what it’s from.

Before you buy the PRL IC, take a hard look at the design advantages of the 27WON IC.
