it was exactly what i was hoping for. I didn't wanna push it to 300 and neither did he. The rods are too weak in our cars.
Pretty much my thoughts. I'm content with where my Si is as a DD with FBO+TSP Stage 2... Once the market for our engine matures I'll upgrade the internals and stick a big boy turbo in there.

I went with a custom tune instead of stage 2 because my fuel trims and af ratios are dialed in better

Oh for sure. I know with the 27won turbo it seems more safe to hit the 300 range since you're making more power up top than down low and I think Derek said that's what kills the rods is all the power down low, which makes sense. I ran 10 psi on my old D series with a t3/t4 turbo and was pushing the 300 range on a stock block before eventually the rods gave out, and they took a good year of beating before that happened. Eventually I built the motor and went with 16 psi and some head work and managed 350whp.

These little Honda motors can take a beating. But, it's so scary to think about blowing a motor on such a new of a car
The high TQ at the initial is what kills the motor. Instead of having a spike the 27w Has a linear curve. Just dial the TQ at higher revs.

plenty have made it pass the 300whp mark with stock rods. All depends on the tune. To much torque down low is what will kills them.

Get a bigger turbo and ask your tuner to keep torque @ 300wtq. Don't let it go higher. In terms of HP whatever the new turbo can support.
This setup will be easier on your internals.

Hmm, I didn't know the 279whp he made was on Church's dyno. :doh:Considering their dyno is infamous for reading around 12-15% higher than most dynos, he blew likely only making 240-250whp. Might be an important tidbit for people looking to push the limits of their stock blocks.
