On the one hand, I’m bummed that I pulled the trigger on a black R (my current favorite) knowing now that a two tone Yellow and Black Carbon Fiber option will soon be available. On the other hand, I was fortunate enough to pay MSRP for mine - I’d imagine that getting a Yellow and Carbon Fiber special edition for less than $50K will be extremely unlikely. At the end of the day, unless Honda gives this “Nurburgring Edition“ the STI S209 treatment (built engine, bigger turbo, bigger injectors, etc.), I cant see it being worth that kind of money.

It’s most likely going to be a cosmetic refresh with a less hardcore GT trim. Honda traditionally doesn’t do power bumps mid-cycle.

I hope they’re directly swappable with the current gen CTR. But part of me feels like it’s a new bumper mold.
Why would you do that? Different doesn’t mean better. Leave your poor CTR alone! Kidding, do as you please. But historically, Honda MMCs do not look better than the original release.

From what I see I think I like the 17-19 MYs.

Working with a lead and signed up on the waiting list for a PY at MSRP. Will see what happens in a few months. Meaning will unload CW in a few months if it happens but well worth it. :) Always wanted a bright-color car (orange or yellow).

Why does Honda give the US CTR a "Touring" designation without sensing, heated seats, steering wheel, and wireless charger? I understand it's appropriate for the Canadian version. So what does this rant have to do with PY CTR? I'm hoping Honda will make this "Ring" version more track-oriented by adding the black roof, mirrors, 40+hp (easy feat), removing navigation, removing subwoofer, and keeping price in check (no more than 4k over current MSRP). I'm hoping for an MSRP of $39k or less. ADM is beyond our control unfortunately.

Hope all you want. A ring edition won’t happen.

I would think they'd add a model without the 12 speaker stereo, nav and 20" wheels, and maybe with less aggressive wing. The question is would it be a track model or a base model? Demand seems too high to offer a cheaper model, unless they think they can get more buyers with a less showy model.

I thought Honda was on a 5 year model cycle with a refresh for the last 2 years (2020 and 2021 for current body style), that would put at 2021 for last year and 2022 for new body style :dunno:
The new body styles came out in 2016, so 2020 would be the 5th year. The Type R debuted a year late.
So yeah, I think we're all speculating 2020 is the last year but they are bringing the plant here so... wouldn't that continue the Type R production line, too? Either way, (I) better just get one before they go extinct and I'm Type R-less.

Depends on what the project timeline is for qualifying the US production line and training the staff on the new procedures. If they do it right, then there should be no downtime in production.

Civic production in the US will be for the 11th gen Civic not the 10th gen. 10th gen production will die in Swindon with the plant.

What model year is the last for the Swindon Hatcbacks??
2020 or 2021? Anyone in the know?

I recall hatchbacks being launched much later than the rest of X gen. I also think a refresh is a waste for just 1 year... my guess is 2021 will be last year for our beloved cars before they are ruined by hybrid BS on the next gen. Thoughts? Guesses?

I don’t think anyone knows but the changes / refresh might be due to EU safety regulations taking affect in 2020.

As for the R going hybrid I don’t know why people are complaining about tech that’s making cars faster??? Internal combustion engines will never match the horsepower or torque an electronic motor can generate on demand. Then KERS will trickle down allowing spent energy to be recycled for other things. It’s a win / win and we’re only in the infancy stage of EV tech, it will only get better.

Here’s a Hellcat vs Tesla 100D:

I’m not knocking the inevitable tech that’s coming, it’s just gonna be much more expensive to fix & maintain these systems. Cars in general these days are much more complicated to work on, hybrid will only make it worse making customer more reliant on dealers for service. Some dealers & techs are great but most are a joke that I’ve dealt with....
