2020 MKV Supra, but there's no way I could get the launch version of that vehicle for under $70K after the dealers get their grubby hands on them. Screw that noise.

I have a couple of friends who work at Toyota and they actually asked me if i was interested in a launch edition supra. I told them no and their response was "wise choice".

Apparently Toyota already has a more hardcore version planned. And if history is any indicator, it's going to make the current crop of Supras tank in value. Not to mention, this is a completely "new" vehicle. I'd wait till they sort the bug outs on this one before pulling any triggers.

to list a few:

- overpriced
- overweight
- still needs a decent amount of mods to be "track worthy"
- bmw reliability
Every car needs a decent amount of mods to be track ready. Even Porsches can be made better. That's not to say the M2 otherwise sucks shit at the track.

Holy shit it is heavy though, with a curb weight of 3760lbs. How the hell did BMW manage that?

As for price? Buy used. Problem solved.

Your avatar pic highlights the problem with the Supra...no manual right?

I'm a huge modder so I'm totally with you that every car can be made better for the track. But the sheer amount of mods to get the M2 to just be comparable to ... say a Gt4, ZL1 1LE ..etc... just isn't worth it. Because in the end you're still left with this heavy ass vehicle and a BMW no less. lol.

The point about used price is sort of moot because you can buy the other cars used too (sometimes at a greater discount than what the M2's go for).

Oh and just in case if anyone decides to question my credentials... here's a picture of my m2... lol. Fully built. Track ready.

Such a beautiful car. I've always loved the looks of the new M2s and M4s. It seems like the competition package would be the way to go for the new ones since they're not that much more when compared to the price of the base models.
Btw, why are these cars so damn heavy? They look tiny. Is it all the luxurious features and driver's aids they possess?

I'm with you. I like the looks of the car but they're just stupid heavy. I think my m2 with a cage in it was close to 3700 lbs. Just as a comparison, my NSX is 3800 lbs and that's before I switched out to a full aftermarket exhaust and wheels. That being said, the two cars are almost identical in weight. Let that sit for a bit....

Why are they so heavy? I think they're heavy mainly bc of a combination of the luxury items / accessories, the chassis, and the TRANSMISSION.

By the way, the weight is something a lot of people don't talk about... especially the journalists and car critics. They take it out for a spin for a couple of laps and write their reviews. For example: No one talks about how the weight ends up roasting your brakes 2 laps in..

And I wouldn't opt for the competition because of several reasons:

1. the S55 motor isn't that much better. In fact, it has its own issues... more specifically issues with the hub crank. And it sounds worse than the N55. lol.
2. M2 is still overweight. In fact, it's even heavier now. lol.
3. Even MORE overpriced.
4. in reality, it's just a m2 that's thrown together using the M3/M4's parts bin. And its not like the M3 / M4 was that great.
5. It's not that much faster than the regular M2. You'd be better off saving your money by buying a highly discounted regular M2 and modding it the way you want it.

New Supra shaping up to be a beast. 4.1 0-60, maybe low 12's or high 11's 1/4?

Acura can't sell these new so I'm wondering what the interest level has been for yours
Honestly. No idea. Between running all my businesses, building the type r, and having a newborn, I haven't had much time to check. I dropped the car off about 2 weeks ago at a dealership to be sold via consignment. Which reminds me... I should probably check in on it... lol.

The car doesn't do too bad in the used market. It's "exotic" enough to warrant the 120-140k people are willing to drop on it. And at that price level, it actually becomes a bargain for how much car you get.

The new market is almost an entirely different subject. I believe that Acura has huge problems selling it new because it was overpriced to begin with. At 200k, even with the ~50k discount Acura was offering, it was still overpriced. It was competing with lamborghinis, porsches, and mclarens. That's insane.
