Seems to me that when I first got my car in feb. 18 there was so much excitement about the numbers chasing and the "fast" group of guys pushing the envelope were posting frequently with alot of valuable information.....which usually always turned into a pissing match and bitch fest due to tuning software choices etc.

Now it seems like its been given up on or moved on from. Vit-gone. Si Se Puede-gone. Numbers chase is gone. I know there are a few others but dont recall all the names.

Seems like a barren wasteland now of new owners that just are not interested in technical info or simply dont know enough about properly modifying to contribute to "testing any new waters"

Sad...

Oh Im trying my best to contribute solid tech info/ results of my experimenting but rarely does it even get replied to. I actually have done some modifications to my cars intake setup that has provided me with as low as 6 degree difference from ambient temperature to my pre turbo intake temperature using a short ram intake. As a by product introduced some killer spool/bpv turbo noises.

Also have done ALOT of calibration experimentation and boy do I know some setup things to do and avoid when messing with the flashpro.

I haven't even bothered to share this yet as its seemingly pointless. Ktuner/PRL/Maperformance are the biggest contributors, and they should be because they are here to make money. Props to all the company's that support us.

Im referring more to the end user side of things. There are alot of sheep that just get a cobra intake, chop the exhaust and flash a basemap and be done without even so much as recording a single data-log.

Is that bad? Not necessarily and its a testament to how easy we have it nowadays.

I guess Im old school and come from too much other turbo car background where daily its a wealth of "i tried this and this happened" type info on the other boards.

@PowerPerLiter What have you done to reduce temps with the short ram intake?

I am going to make a tech article on it at some point and I entertained the idea of making an easily duplicated kit. It consists of a duct or air guide plate that isolates the upper grill inlet. It's combined with modifying the radiator cooling plate. As well as sealing the assembly as directly to the hood as possible. It takes the factory ideas about 10 steps further.

The pic isn't the final rendition. It's already been added to since

I've been here since the early days in 2015 and I still see some number chasing. The average member isn't going for ultimate power and the "honey I blew my engines" posts kind of give a little pause as far as pushing the envelope.

Be a pioneer. Test and experiment and post your results and dynos for all to learn from.

Also, keep this in mind. This fact is based on my nearly 20 years running car forums. When a platform is brand new there tends to be a lot more pioneers in the first couple years. After a few years the pioneering seems to lessen and of course you have many people waiting for their warranty to end before they go hog wild into modding. I guarantee you'll see a lot more power chasing as this platform ages.

I currently have a Ktuner and a K&N filter for power gains. I can't speak for anyone else, but in order for me to start chasing more power, I'd have to go flex fuel (barely available here) and I'd have to be ready to replace the clutch. That's a large amount of money to drop, and would be much harder to undo if I needed warranty repairs.

@PowerPerLiter I think another thing to consider is that they've found the limits of the stock fuel injectors. I know PRL is working on a supplement port injection system but it's still in R&D and I think there were concerns about making it work without a custom ECU setup. I'm guessing it would be out of most people's price range to run something like motec if it's not a dedicated machine, and until then, I'm not sure how much further things can be pushed.

I'm not an expert at any of this by any means, but I can tell with certainty that it costs time and money for the few who push the envelope, especially when things break. I think 400hp out of a little 1.5L engine is already pretty good (all things considered), and I'm sure we'll see these companies continue to push the limits as they develop more solutions over time...

We have been lacking a bit on updates, but not for a lack of effort in the shop. Hopefully we have some media coming out soon, but we have made a lot of changes to the car and have had a decent amount of testing going on that will hopefully result in a car that makes some power, and some cool products for the end users!
