Sorry, but thats just wrong. For starters, a 2.5 camry clocks a 0-60 at 7.9 seconds according to car and driver. A 6MT K20C2 doesnt beat it by much, but it still beats it. A CVT K20C2 is a tad bit slower, but not by much. The camry is a much heavier vehicle than a Civic, so despite all that extra power, it still performs similarly to a 2.0 Civic because of its weight. An Si will run circles around a 2.5 Camry all day long, period. Performance wise, an Si is better in every measurable way. If you go with the V6 though, its a different story in a straight line although I would hope so since it has 2 more cylinders and double the displacement. A 2.5 camry isnt bad, but its certainly not faster or even comparable to an Si.No, the K20C2 will never run circles around the XSE's 2.5L that produces 206 HP and 186 lb-ft of torque and these power figures are indeed comparable to the Si's 205 HP and 192 lb-ft, and may I remind you that you won't get carbon buildup on the 2.5L so less maintenance for not needing valve cleaning and you don't need to go for long routes or do drive on weekends just for the sake to manage the oil dilution.
And the new Corolla's new 2.0L indeed eclipsed the K20C2 as it is more efficient in city and combined numbers while making more power.
As for the Corolla, you're wrong again. A 2.0 CVT corolla despite of it's extra power and real first gear, runs a 0-60 of 8.5-8.6 seconds while a K20C2 CVT Civic does it in about 8-8.1 seconds. Not to mention that's its just a better car to drive in general. Fact is, Toyota didnt do anything great with their 2.0 engine and im still taking the K20 all day long. The manual corolla is almost a second faster though, but Honda's 1.5 turbo in any configuration still beats that too.
