No, the K20C2 will never run circles around the XSE's 2.5L that produces 206 HP and 186 lb-ft of torque and these power figures are indeed comparable to the Si's 205 HP and 192 lb-ft, and may I remind you that you won't get carbon buildup on the 2.5L so less maintenance for not needing valve cleaning and you don't need to go for long routes or do drive on weekends just for the sake to manage the oil dilution.

And the new Corolla's new 2.0L indeed eclipsed the K20C2 as it is more efficient in city and combined numbers while making more power.
Sorry, but thats just wrong. For starters, a 2.5 camry clocks a 0-60 at 7.9 seconds according to car and driver. A 6MT K20C2 doesnt beat it by much, but it still beats it. A CVT K20C2 is a tad bit slower, but not by much. The camry is a much heavier vehicle than a Civic, so despite all that extra power, it still performs similarly to a 2.0 Civic because of its weight. An Si will run circles around a 2.5 Camry all day long, period. Performance wise, an Si is better in every measurable way. If you go with the V6 though, its a different story in a straight line although I would hope so since it has 2 more cylinders and double the displacement. A 2.5 camry isnt bad, but its certainly not faster or even comparable to an Si.

As for the Corolla, you're wrong again. A 2.0 CVT corolla despite of it's extra power and real first gear, runs a 0-60 of 8.5-8.6 seconds while a K20C2 CVT Civic does it in about 8-8.1 seconds. Not to mention that's its just a better car to drive in general. Fact is, Toyota didnt do anything great with their 2.0 engine and im still taking the K20 all day long. The manual corolla is almost a second faster though, but Honda's 1.5 turbo in any configuration still beats that too.

"But then there’s the transmission, which needs an exorcism.

Remember, this is the SE trim -- the sporty model -- and its agonizing transmission programming suggests the LE will be almost undrivable. In D, the car seems to upshift to fourth by 20 mph, and any attempt to accelerate is met with a yawn and multiple downshifts. It's like piloting a steamship; you have to call down to the engine room for more power, then wait for the boilers to respond. S mode holds gears slightly longer and behaves more like a regular transmission, but then it seems to stop upshifting at 4th gear unless the driver uses the shift paddles (a truly laughable accessory on this car) to set the top gear. The result: Neither mode is adequate as-programmed for regular around-town driving."

The Camry isn't perfect, I've spent time on that forum, they have complaints about everything under the sun, including the sluggish transmission that lurches. If you go on any car forum, you're going to see complaints...
I'm aware of this and currently looking feed backs from owners who got TSB #t-sb-0330-17 applied to their Camry

May I inquire the specific civic trims of the 6MT and CVT numbers that you posted before I post a complete reply for the entirety of your post?

I'm aware using water for cleaning the soft touch dashboard for safe cleaning and maintenance as I read this before I bought my Si:

By the way do you have any evidence of your 2.0L 6MT running circles around a 2.5L Camry? Show some supporting evidence first before making such claim.

And also you just displayed a complete inability of comprehension here, I mentioned the 2.5L as a package, with other factors more than just power comparing it to the Si.

Your basis of standard on what doesn't eclipse the 2.0L on a lighter chassis is indeed subjective. But both cars, or trims to be specific, are not advertised as 0 to 60 machines and are made with target in mind the common day to day driver going from point A to point B. So yes the 2.0L Corolla is nice that it stumps the 2.0L Civic in terms of MPG in both transmissions despite being on a HEAVIER chassis.

Here, you're indicating yourself that it's really more likely you are not going to "run circles" against a 2019 XSE 2.5L that you even resorted to bring up the idea of using stickier tire.

Post a video of 6MT K20C2 "running circles" against a 2.5L Camry or else your "running circles" is nothing but unfounded claim.

I too have been trying to keep in the know with Toyota and Honda forums. Wife test drove both Civic 2.0 and Corolla and she went with the Corolla sedan. Wifey preferred NA motors since she liked the linear power band. Would of gone with the Civic 2.0 but wifey liked the sitting position on the Corolla. She still has her 2006 TSX manual which she still loves to drive but needed another DD since the TSX is getting old.

for those considering that "other car" - from my past experience with 92 NSX, 2006 S2000, 2012 Si Sedan and 2018 Civic HB Sport Manual - I suggest you take a Test Ride in a 2019 Acura ILX A-Spec which as you all know is built on the 9th Gen Civic Chassis and has a NA 2.4L K24V7 engine and 8-speed Dual-Cluth Auto - built in USA with Trans built in JAPAN - not Thailand & India - you just may be very surprised as I was - nothing like my 2012 Civic Si - not in any way - no Slug either - getting 29+MPG City at only 1600 miles.........believe me I'm NOT nuts - closest car to my original 1987 M5 I've ever driven since trading it off in 1997 with 65,000 miles for the NSX

Ahaha for sure bruh..

Wifey also tried the new ILX but she didn't like the dual screen. Hopefully next gen ILX will be better, I too need a DD.
