Exactly my experience, although my standard system does not include a sub. Still the humble components are able to produce bass with dignity after V4A :)
Unfortunately i also dont have a subwoofer (eu hatchbacks dont have that it seems?). iam adding an aftermarket amp+sub very soon. will see how that will sound. :)

but overall, iam surprised what a decent equalizer can do with the stock premium speakers. definitely worth it.

If I were to install V4A on my rooted phone and connect via USB, I'd be able to get the same results, correct?
i tried that aswell, but it was buggy. at least on my phone.
v4a sometimes stopped working on bluetooth and i dont know via USB (Android Auto), it didnt alter the sound for me.

Well, having an EQ on the audio source could do the trick. I have an old Lenovo android tablet which came with Dolby 20-bank EQ. I used it a couple time through Bluetooth on my Honda and it worked nice. However running V4A on the rooted HU has far better output, plus it is very convenient to change the settings on the HU depending on your mood or playlist, rather than having to mess with a phone attached to USB ...

Here are some results of using a Lc2i with a slight modification.

Below is what I wanted to achieve -- The GREEN response
At that time, the response using the Unmodified Lc2i was the Red Profile
graph-jpg.jpg

=========================================

After modifying one of the Lc2i channel's Filter, and then combining the modified channel with the unmodified channel, the measured profile below was achieved.

sub + MODDED LC2I_left_Right.jpg

The final profile is made up of 3 filtered signals, that are mixed together just before entering the new Sub AMP.

Lc2i-mod.jpg

This gives the user some interesting options, depending on what Bass sound they want to hear.

(1) Just the Blue - Original Honda Amp sub output, which really is just THUMPS, with no discernible audio frequency that you can hear.
(2) Just the Yellow, that gives the very low fundamental frequency of the Bass.
With just the Fundamental, most bass musical instruments sound the same as each other, and have no individual character (ie No Harmonics)
(3) Yellow with pink added... This gives audible base, where the character of the bass instruments are distinguishable, as there are some of the lower Harmonics included.

Double Bass & Bass Guitar sound like the instruments they are, and can be heard to be different.

(4) All of 3, if you want to hear the bass, and also feel the bass-- assuming you have a powerful enough amp and big enough speaker to render the very low frequency THUMPS.

All 3 of these "Filtered signals: could be mixed with Individual pots, so you could set exactly what you wanted.

At this point, it is getting close to a simple 3 channel DSP, but for sub $100

I ran the output of all 3 combined (2nd Graph) through a small 30W (peak) amp into a 10" Sub... it sounded amazing.. really did not need any more volume.. in fact, needed to be turned down -- unless I wanted the floor to shake !!

Since this seems to work well, next task is to build into a small Plastic "Project Box" the 3 Pots Mixer, and have 3 Phono Inputs and 1 Phono output. (will not need 12v power).
Have you had time to come up with how-to to replace the filter caps in the LC2i? What values to replace them with? What about the resistors and how to wire up the front left/right pairs with the sub input into the LC2i? Appreciate all of your intricate work on this!

That's my current problem -- finding the time ... hopefully I can get back on the project later this summer.

Yes, I was using jet Audio as well :)
I understand what you mean about the Rear speakers... especially in a Coupe.

Did you do the Lc2i + Amp for the Sub, or just stay with the reasonably adequate Bass from the front side speakers. ?

With the Jet Equalizer, they can be set to give a more than balanced Bass. Any more is just Excessive Vibration and as far as I am concerned, damaging to the ears.
Are there instructions on installing Jet Equalizer? I suspect the HU has to be rooted.

UPDATE:

Not been able to finish my full in car evalation of the Honda Premium system for 2 reasons.

(1) Life has got in the way-- been too busy to spend the time needed (I know, lame excuse)

(2) Since replacing the CENTER speaker with a better quality speaker with sound padding behind it, the new LESS SENSITIVE speaker does not drown out the two side speakers anymore, and with the VOLUME turned up 2-3 steps to compensate, the sound is far more balanced, and the Bass from the side speakers is now much more obvious.

Before, The Center POOR Quality Center speaker was very dominant, and its "NOISE" overrode the sounds coming from the side speakers, as well as hiding a lot of the STEREO effect of the two side speakers.

Now with the better, less sensitive Center speaker, the sound is far more Balanced, and now one can both hear the STEREO effect lot better, but also the BASS from the side speakers is a lot more pronounced.

It sound so much better now, I am not in such a rush to update the side speakers, although I can imagine when they are updated, and some decent sound padding is placed in the door, the sound will be even better.

While this has done nothing to change the LOW Bass coming (or NOT Coming) from the Rear SUB, the sound is now far more balanced, and personally, I do not "FEEL" the need to "FEEL" the SUB Bass pounding on my eardrums !! (Personal Choice).

Next step is to get a better Sound Frequency response from the current setup with updated center speaker, and then to update the side speakers and measure/hear the difference.

In the meanwhile, the Maxima needs some TLC - blown head gasket ??

I'd be curious if anyone in the Honda community has just deleted the center speaker altogether. I have to believe that the processor is just sending signals that are equally present in the L/R (or centered in the mix) through there. It's easy enough to place a dummy load (or a blown speaker with the same resistance) on that amp's channel. Of course, it would be easier still if the HU had that channel on a separate fader.

But glad that you found some satisfaction with the replacement. Good luck with the other car.

I believe that one reason NOT to eliminate the Center Speaker is that some Audio (Bluetooth phone ? and maybe Navigation audio ?) is sent top just the Center Speaker.

An option might be Permanently reduce the volume of the current center speaker with a series Resistor in the speaker lead.
The Speaker is a 4 Ohm speaker ... putting say, a 4 Ohm resistor in one of the leads to the speaker would cut it's volume by 50%,(-3dB) which would probably come close to the improvement of adding a better, but less sensitive speaker.

Or even a Rotary Fader !! $10 Ebay

Probably enough room to hide it (in a Preset setting), in the same area as the Center speaker, under the dash, next to the speaker, when you splice it into the speaker lead.

Once set to a suitable setting, it should not need to be touched again.

What did you replace the center speaker with? I'm interested in changing out the center speaker if it makes the system sound better as you stated it did.

Would you recommend getting the foam baffle too? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZPNLE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A21IULW0FD6NPA&psc=1
