Hey guys,

I brought a 2017 Civic Si Coupe (Rallye Red) over a year ago. Initially, the only reason why I brought it was because it was within my budget and I liked the looks. I didn't care about modifying it or the Si Culture, hell I didn't even knew how to drive a manual. I would have taken it in automatic if it were available when I brought it. But slowly over the past year, with interactions I've had with other car people this car attracted, knowing more about my car, and actually racing with a WRX the other night, All I've been thinking about is modifying my Si. I've done some research and lurking for a couple of days on here and I'm confident with one steps to first take but would like some guidance.

I think the first step I'm going to do is getting the PRL Cobra CAI which does little for performance but gives that "turbo noise" as well as making the car more efficient. From what I read, it's a safe modification that's relatively inexpensive. The only downside is hyrdrolocking(?) or water getting into filter but apparently this isn't a problem unless you're driving in a foot of water.(Correct me if I'm wrong trying to learn). It's also an easy install. The second thing I'd be getting is Ktuner V1.2 with Stage 1 TSP. A tuner that can be run with pretty much stock Si. Ultimately, I would like to give the car more "oomph" for now and I'm confident with these mods, it'd be enough to satisfy my need for speed. Any advice, guidance, etc is more than welcomed.

Some of the mods I have done are:
-tinted windows (20% all around except for windshield)
-Switched out the dim headlights for white bright ones (purchased from auxbeam)
-added colored lights in the foot well of the car
-sticker for that +5HP

both of the mods you are looking to purchase are perfect options to wake the car up a little. If you were at all worried about hydrolocking 27won has a CAI hybrid system that eliminates that from ever becoming an issue. good luck with your mods, and welcome to the club.

Welcome, I think you're on the right track. I was just like you roughly 4 years ago until I bought my first Si (a 9th gen), and now I am a car geek. And oh btw, The Weeknd rocks ;)

Welcome. Like you, I am a first time Honda owner (bought my 2018 last June) coming from over 25 years of being in the Toyota world. I'm really not one to overly mod my car, you can check out my thread on 3 what I feel are must do "mods" that are inexpensive, improve the experience of this car significantly and will not break the engine. You already have one of them on your list (Ktuner)

Add a down pipe and front pipe and you honestly should be good. DP/FP + CAI + KTuner I believe should get your car up to 230-260hp.

But if you want more power it seems Ktuner should be the first mod you get.

I would go KTuner before the CAI for a couple reasons:

1) Best bang for your buck. Dollar over dollar a Ktuner will blow you away compared to any intake

2) KTuner has a calibraiton for the Race MAF available on the PRL CAI - even more power. You can't run the Race MAF without a tune

I agree with some of the others. The ktuner should be your first mod. That alone might give you what you are looking for. If you’re looking for just some extra oomph, then the ktuner will definitely give you that.

Yeah I think you and the others have persuaded me to go for the Ktuner first, so I'll make sure to read into it and familiarize myself with it. I get the total gist of it but seeing words like maps and stages get me confused! That's just newbie phase haha thanks for the advice

Yes, that makes sense and hearing your guys opinion has made me change my mind into getting the Ktuner first. I did know there was a street and race version available for the CAI but I think after reading a lot of the forum, that a upgraded clutch would be needed if I'm thinking longterm for the race MAF. Not that I'm against modding the clutch, I'm just not entirely sure if I'll be willing to dive that deep. Who knows though, maybe I'll get the mod high lol thanks of the reply bro
