I've been having issues ever since upgrading to my Samsung Galaxy S10. It seems every so often my phone will crash and auto reboot when connecting via the usb c cable. Sometimes it will bug out and display the Android auto screen on the actual phone. I tried various cables and none seem to help. My previous phone (Galaxy Note 9) did not have any of these issues. Anyone else have the same issues with their S10?

Have S10+, only issue I have is the night/day mode is broken.

Try reinstalling AA on your phone. If that doesn't work, try factory reset on the head unit and on your phone as well.

I have the samsung S9+ my android auto doesn't work at all anymore. Tried multiple fixes and nothing. Gave up till I upgrade my phone, hopeful that might fix the issue.

The "doesn't work at all anymore" is the clue here.

You cannot (easily) update your Honda Unit, so nothing should have changed there.
Same old, out of date firmware/software/Hardware that use to work ok with your phone.

But your Phone has potentially been updated (probably automatically) many times, and is now probably running a newer version of Android Auto, that is no longer 100% comparable with your old Honda Android Auto software.

So what you need to do is to UNINSTALL Android Auto from your phone, and then re-install an older version that was current at the time your purchased your phone (or more correctly, when your phone was manufactured)

This older version will no longer be on the Play Store (which will only have the latest version), so you will need to seek out that older version on some of the Alternate Android historic APP sites.

You will also have to prevent that Installed older version from Updating.

You can either turn Automatic Updates off on your phone, and then do update manually periodically, making sure you do NOT update AA, or (and), make sure that when you get that older Version of AA that works, keep a copy (on Thumb Drive, or on YOUR Google Drive), so that you can replace the version on your phone, back to that working earlier version, should you update by mistake.

All this is NOT difficult to do, and it will probably make AA work again between your current Phone and the Honda vehicle.

Re-Installing AA (from Play Store) or resetting the Honda unit is probably (almost Guaranteed) NOT to fix your current issue), although a Honda head Unit reset occasionally never hurts !!!

This seems to be a very smart solution, but there's no way to avoid the update, since it doesn't let you start up the app without an update. is there a way to bypass this "need an update" thing?

Probably TMI, but I've typed it now, so I am hitting send !!

You might need to go back to a version prior to when Google decided to include the forced check for update.

The above link gives you a list of links to prior version, and their release date.

I would suggest going back to late 2017/ early 2018

---
I actually need to do this as well... the AA I had installed on the head unit on my Maxima, updated (or I messed up and updated it), and now it does not work on the Head Unit (typically you do not load AA to the Head unit, you load it to the Phone, and the head unit has the SERVER version of AA installed, that talks to the AA on your phone).
I run AA as an APP on the Head Unit, because the Google Assistant in AA is better (louder), so I run AA as an App just to get a good version of Google Assistant running native on the Head unit, rather than have it run on the Phone, and the Google assistant audio come form the phone to the Head Unit's sound system (Car Premium sound system) by Crappy Bluetooth !!!

Will let you know what version I end up with.

Just occurred to me .. my wife's android Phone work 100% fine with the AA in her 2018 Si.

She currently has the latest version on her phone
Android Auto 4.4.592343-release (44592343)
File Size: 15.9 MB
Minimum: Android 5.0 (Lollipop, API 21)
Updated: June 26, 2019

So maybe my theory about an older version being needed is flawed ....
She has an older Android phone. Samsung Edge 6 plus.

Maybe she should not be rushing to upgrade her phone

Not sure if this is what you're referring to, but with Google implementing Night Mode in their apps, this is what I did to get Night Mode functioning in AA:

I am pleased to inform that for the very first time, the Night/Day issue is now solved in the ASG8 July update for my S10+ Exynos.

I chuckled quite a bit when I noticed it switched to night mode (Google maps, Spotify etc.) whenever my interior lights are on, just like the way they used to be on my OnePlus 5T before. Been waiting for this fix since I got the phone in March!!

Still waiting for the Android Auto new UI though, but I'm glad this is finally fixed.
