A very interesting and somewhat funny thing happened to me today. I was at an intersection turning right and there was a class of Grade 1's or so of children that were crossing the road that I had to wait for. It was a beautiful day out today, windows down and just going for a cruise at lunch. Most of the class had passed when one of the young boys yelled out, "Hey, that's a race car!". The rest of the kids then joined in all excited. I had a good chuckle and told them to be safe and have a great day. New Honda fanboy gained today! Ralleye Red Si Sedan...

So true. Children know what’s cool and don’t mind expressing it. Similar situation with me last year as school was letting out for the day. Busy roads, and as I was waiting patiently at a residential intersection for kids and cars to clear, out of the blu some high schooler stopped, then halted further kids from crossing in front of me, then directed me with hand signs when traffic was clear and safe for me to turn left...lol. Never had anything like that happen before and I don’t think he woulda done that had I been driving something less flashy

Reminds me of when I had to pick my niece up from elementary school. All her male classmates where pointing at my car and complimenting it and telling each other they thought it was cool and "probably fast". I guess it looks fast lol

Compared to the crud suvs their folks drive them to school in, the Si a absolute freak of a car. Those boys would sell their nuts to drive around in one. Also, the Si is plenty fast in my book

Yes, the look of Si, particular this gen is aggressive and sexy. In my other thread "are you a si", someone posted a picture of a si along with some exotic cars. If you know nothing about brands (so seeing cars like a kid), our cars are no less than those in look to some people.

You should have asked him where he lived, found his mom and dad, and thanked them for raising a kid that used the word SIR properly in a sentence. That's a rare thing these days.

I wonder if Tom O'Gorman has been teaching them.

He's 2x Pirelli World Challenge champ and calls every 10th gen he sees "racecar" because that's what he currently races

There was one kid, probably about 10, got super excited when I was driving next to him on the highway, there was traffic and every time I was next to him he had a huge smile on his face and was giving me thumbs up. His mom looked embarrassed though lol.
My 4 year old daughter on the other hand got mad at me when I gave back the Corolla that we had as a rental and got back the Si. She liked "the red car" better lol.

That would be me, and in the picture below you'll see the same Lamborghini from my post in the other thread :)

Last year I was at a community event with the same group, and the kid walked past the Performante to come to my car because it was his favorite color, Blue! Kids have no sense of MSRP and values, they will simply state what they love. We can raise the next generation right by showing them the passion that was once shared with us as kids :)

I have cars that I aspire to own, but am super happy with what I have right now. Teaching kids the value of working hard, and rewarding themselves appropriately really helps with goal-setting as they will have sensible aspirations - be it a $5 chocolate bar, a $50K car, or $500k property. The $ value is only relative, just got to have the right principles!

In 1963 I was 13 years old, and walked past a Chevrolet dealer on my to and from school. One day on my way home, there was a silver '63 split window sitting in front (1st one I'd seen). I was awe struck and stood there staring at it, and a salesman came out and opened the hood for me and then let me sit in it. I'll never forget that small act of kindness. Loved Corvettes (1963 - 1967) since. A few years later, we were stationed at China Lake Naval weapons center and our next door neighbor (F4 squadron commander) drove home a new 1967 L88 Vette. Told me to go ask my dad if he could give me a ride. Dad said Ok, and I then had the most terrifying ride of my life. I guess the fighter pilot came out in him, but my knees were shaking when I got out!:headbang:
