Hello from Tokyo!
After 24 hours of YouTube videos and countless hours reading blogs, magazines, and reviews I'm absolutely positive that the FK8 will be one of the best cars I will ever own. In fact, a day hasn't gone by where I haven't dedicated part of my day to thinking about this car. OH hell, that's even why I'm here.
But one thing......
I ordered it, offered up my old ride as a trade in, backed that up with cash for a loan free purchase. I ticked every single option that he showed me in the Accessories catalog. ( Seriously, I bought it ALL ) and then BAM! What's the waiting time? You should have it next year, perhaps late summer. I felt the hallway stretching away from me like that scene in the movie Poltergeist. Am I ever going to get my Type R down the hall?
What the hell is the deal? For those that don't know, Japan doesn't keep stock on the lot. Pretty much every car is made to order. I've ordered many cars in Japan. Mazda, 1 month; Volvo, 3 months; Honda StepWGN 1.5 months: Honda FK8 Type R........a YEAR?!?!?!?!?
I investigated. I watched the super-efficient production line video Honda Jason posted from the U.K. Okay they are rolling them out. I checked Honda Logistics's website to try to find their shipping routes. Couldn't find it. I used a maritime map website to calculate the most efficient route for a ship to travel to Japan. It's a month tops if I add in 3 - 6 ports of call. What is the deal? Why so long?
I'm so old school. I'm C.R.E.A.M = Cash rules everything around me. So why would Honda take so long to deliver these cars? Get them on the streets. Let people see them. They will buy! Please tell me what you think.
