I am 66 years old. My first Civic was a 1974 Civic. Bought it when I was in college. I drove that car until the floor board rusted out. Held the drivers seat up with a 2x4. I have been a mechanic since I was a teenager. Not my profession but I have learned a lot over the years. Have done timing belt changes on 4 and 6 cylinder Honda’s. Torn down many engines. I love this SI. It is a coupe with Pearl White color. I don’t see myself modifying it. It is plenty fast and a joy to drive. I like Honda reliability and this car is just a beauty. The transmission is smooth as butter. The 74 Civic had a distributor; no electronic ignition. This 2019 is lightyears ahead of that 74. I liked VTEC but I got to say this Turbo is perfectly mated with the 6 speed manual transmission. It is a blast to drive! Not all SI drivers are young fanboys.

I was 62 when I bought my Si in '17. Love mine too. Those of us who have had the privilege to drive many wonderful cars through the years really appreciate the 10th gen. Civic. Especially the Si.

I've never owned a VTEC car but I've certainly read a lot about them. Maybe our 10th gen doesn't have that top end surprise that the VTEC cam had, but we got continuously variable valve timing instead. No matter what the RPM, our cars valve timing is computer controlled to be perfect. Technology marches on. Certainly beats the technology we had available when i first started to drive. You would get a cam that was ground to be efficient for your engine size in only one section of the RPM range. Those lopy rough engines may have sounded powerful, but what we have now is so much better.

My first car in 1965 was a 1950's MGA 1500. Other than learning to navigate through driver's ed, I had to drive a stick.

After a brief interlude with an Olds Cutlass, a VW Rabbit and 1982 Scirocco followed. After I found a willing owner for the '82, I got the '18 Si.

Just as much fun as the Scirocco. Same down-shifts to 2nd around the uphill corner in the neighborhood. Much more comfortable on the LIE doing 70 (sorry always 55 mph).

Had the 70 birthday in October. Check out the "how old are y'all" thread.

you know how the saying goes "youre only as old as you look"

anyways when im 80 theres 2 things that will keep life exciting for me:viagra and modding my civic.

itll probably be a previous gen by that time as itll be nothing but shitty all electric automatic cars sadly

50 here.

Bought my LX cause it was cheap. Owned some classic cars, last was a 87 Turbo T with lots of upgrades and paint. Wish I never sold it.

Love the Civic now and wish I bought a Si. Now want a CTR.

But with two girls going to private school and now college, not sure a new car is in my near future. :(

So, leather upgrades, new (used) wheels and Ktuner soon is all I can do to hold me over. Now wish I just spent a little more for an Si.

I am 68 and still enjoy driving a manual trans car. I live in the country and that makes it a lot more pleasant experience.
