More than just the gear selector screams BMW. If you've owned or been in a couple of the new ones, that control layout screams BMW. The shape of the nav screen, the air con and steering wheel button shapes are reminiscent of the older X5's and the new 3 series interior. This is probably a bad thing. lol.

I drive an X5 regularly and a well-manicured dog scratched on the steering wheel and plastic film used to cover the escutcheon of the steering wheel buttons peeled off. After a year a tack on leather piece that covers the upper half of the electronically released dashboard fell off lol. Not very luxurious for a $80k Cdn SUV.

Tsk tsk, for the price that you pay for this thing, can we at least not get some interior inspiration from the Lexus LC's award winning interior?

There’s a similar thread that a poster wrote why didn’t both Toyota and Lexus design the Supra. I understand they want a inline 6 it’s a sports car the company now makes a V8 . Remember Nissan had their inline 6 both in the 240-280z and the skyline now it’s a turbocharged V6 or engineer a inline 6 to put in the Supra

Years ago I bought a new 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo. It was a manual, can't remember if it was 5 or 6 speeds, but I loved that car. It looked great, and made Mustang GT drivers cry. I'm not a fan of this new model. I can't imagine why anyone would buy a car like this without a manual transmission. I guess I'm just old school.

Today I was at a local car show ( one good thing about Florida a lot of car shows) a older gentleman had a 1987 Toyota Supra all original very clean he was the 2nd owner. I asked him what do you think about the new Supra he said it is ridiculous it’s a BMW not a Toyota he told me a lot of Supra guys don’t like it on a good note he asked me if I wanted to buy his Supra. I asked why . He wants to buy a new civic type R

I've always loved the Supra, and though I think this generation is uglier than the previous, I'd still be happy to drive one. The reason I can't buy it is because there's no manual transmission. My wife can't drive stick:D

Its basically a bmw Z4.... As a supra fan its very disappointing they went with too small of a body and its not even a Toyota engine..... For how legendary the Supra was I think true Supra fans wanted toyota engineering not a bmw Z4 with toyota badges and different bumpers slapped onto it. Huge let down.

This is what happens when you let corporate execs who have never dipped their hands in motor oil try to make a car for enthusiasts. I like Toyota but all they care about now is the number at the bottom of their spreadsheets.

To put it quite frankly, they lost their racing spirit a long time ago. They are like samurai with briefcases.
