Does anybody know if Honda 36K mile warranty covers replacement of struts? I have a 2017 EX-T with approx 28k miles and yesterday I noticed that the rear shock is bad. I called the local Honda dealership and they could not tell me. I have never done any modifications to this car it is completely stock.

I noticed the defect after I heard noise coming from the rear right like something is loose.

Yes definitely, unless it was involved in an accident where that could be compromised. Otherwise it should be covered no problem.

My guess is though is that you have the dreaded suspension noise that everyone has been facing. Honda has not found a fix for this yet though. This has been happening since day 1 of my 2019 Si, along with pages and pages of others people.

I had a rear strut break a couple of months ago. One day I started hearing a banging in the back and pretty well knew what it was.
Dealer replaced the entire assembly, no questions asked.

My 2016 coupe just had its rear shocks replaced under warranty. What is the normal life for these shocks? Will I have to worry about this in 3 more years and no warranty?

Yup, it's definitely covered under your warranty. I had a rear right one leak, brought it into a local dealer and they said they'd replace both rear shocks.

Funny thing is that my 2 rear shocks leaked. The car is out of the 3 year warranty, not sure if the 5 year power train warranty covers that. Dealership said no. Don't know if I can fight Honda for this or not.

I wonder what is the associated cost in parts to the replacement of the shock. I was told by a mechanic in a quote I would need to get a new top plate as well...

Yes - they will replace them without cost. Both of mine need replaced at 32,000. Funny thing is, none in stock in my area. Dealer has to wait a day to get them in.

Rear shocks are a weak point in the 10th civic. I see them leak fairly often. Easy to change. Covered under factory 3/36 only. Not Powertrain.

Reached 62k miles not too long ago and my rear passenger side shock started leaking recently. Replacing both rears today as a result. I drive over lots of potholes during my typical commute so I can't say i'm that surprised.
