It’s pretty simple.
For the 10th generation civic, there is no plan for upgrades. Don’t wait for or except them. Period. They scrapped this system and have moved on to ka system that users can updgeade in the accord and odyssey and you’ll likely see it in the 11th gen Civic.
Thank you Honda for giving us an absolutely horrible NON-Modifiable/NON-Upgradeable POS Infotainment system AND THEN GIVING UP ON IT!
I know--I'm going to have to let this go at some point aren't I?

The first priority is always bug fixes. If it's working well enough, then don't touch it. Cars like this can get along just fine for years with the same OS version because they don't have to connect to anything else like a laptop or phone does.

I have the Honda civic 2016 and a family member has the 2018.
I can tell you that the infotainment did get an update between the 2 cars, despite identical in every way (things changed on the 2019 model). The 2018 model runs a but smoother than the 2016 (bit no miracle), the touch screen tracking has been improved, and the test when you start the car is different. The rest is the same. Both still runs the same version of Android, if you wonder.

I did my touch screen replaced on my 2016 model due to touch screen being too sensitive and randomly pressing stuff on the screen despite the sensitive set to low, when it is humid, and the dealership did update to the latest firmware. Sadly, that is still didn't bring me to the 2018 model, and the firmware of the head unit is still different from the 2018 model.

So, what is the Current Software Rev of the 2016 car, and if the 2018 car ?
I assume you do not know the software rev of the 2016 car BEFORE the dealer updated it ?

The "impression" I get after looking at a number of Honda Head units, is that while the Factory installs later software Revisions in the newer Cars, the update for the older cars do NOT bring them up to the same high Revision as the new Factory cars.

They are not so much "Updates" as "Patches :(

I wish someone could prove this NOT to be the case ...

Android Auto is still not working correctly for me after flashing my radio to the 197 firmware. Everything works with the exception of playing music from any music app in Android Auto. Has anyone figured out a solution yet? I'm afraid to bring it up at the dealer since it has firmware on the radio it shouldn't have.

Exactly what are you looking for ?

Firmware update or Garmin GPS Map data update. ?

I believe if you have a 2018, you most likely have the latest Firmware already installed from the factory. Honda seems to have slowed down / stopped with updates for 2018 or 2019 models.

Are you having any specific issues that you hope an Update will fix ?
If not, you might do better to leave well alone. Dealer updates seem to be a little "Random" -- to put it nicely.

The Garmin Map updates, you can easily do yourself. You will need a USB stick, and access to a PC on the Internet.

I know the difference it’s not the map update I did update it from Garman it’s the actual firmware in the radio itself I just had a freeze up today that totally froze until I had to restart the car but I just updated my iPhone today to the latest version

As Scopsys said. There doesn't appear to be any updates for the 2018. You can check with your dealer.
Honda cut off the ability for external people to see published service bulletins so we are in the dark. Unless someone comes back with info about a new update from a dealer and that hasn't happened.

Unbelievable I have a friend of mine that has another product from another car manufacture and they can download their own firmware, update them on their own everything done by the customer.

Yes, Honda has developed that for the Accord and few other newly refresh models.
It is nor a part of this generation of civic, nor will it ever be.
That they did not add it to this years refresh means they will likely hold it for a full refresh.
Firmware updates are by dealer update and for you there are none. That is just the reality of the car you purchased.

Just upgraded from 1.F191.02 to 1.F197.00. Everything is working and I have noticed a slight improvement to the performance (speed) of the UI. Android Auto is still fully functioning, including audio. (Note, mine is a 2017 Hatchback, so the firmware is made for my model). Mine is also Honda Hacked, the root was lost after the upgrade but I was able to re-root it again and everything is still working. (I use a laptop to root via usb).

Wonder if someone could get the 2018 firmware versions, if we could install those on the 2017?

I have a 2017 sedan. I just checked and I am currently running 1.F194.30 Is this correct? I tried to bring it to the dealership over the summer because there was a new update but they claim it wasn't for my particular vin.
