  1. Make sure that you have current Update.Zip of your current ROM
  2. Make sure that you have a current MCU file from your current ROM
  3. Download the HAL9K_Mod_3.1.rar file
  4. Unzip it
  5. Place the files on your USB drive
  6. Install the ModInstaller.apk file to your Head unit.
  7. Run the ModInstaller app
  8. From the recovery menu, select "Install from USB"
  9. Wait for the magic to happen!

Any idea if this headunit would work with higher trim levels like the EX-T or type R?

So I'm about to take the plunge and replace my radio.

I was pointed to these two radios...
Both seem to be the exact same (same UP, same PN, etc) except price and Android Version.

My question is for the money is there a difference other than the Android version?
Is there really any reason to have Android 8.1 verses 7.1 ?

Here are the two radios.

$289
"For Honda Civic 2015 2016 Android 7.1 Car Multimedia Stereo GPS Navigator 2+32GB"

$399
" 9" Octa 2GB + 32GB Android 8.1 Car PC Radio For Honda Civic 2016 Stereo GPS Navi"

Anybody get Tunerview to work with the Dasaita yet?
Yes, but it is very ROM specific (HAL9K 3.0 & 3.03 work, but anything newer does not?!?). It also helps if you delete your other Bluetooth adapters and connect the K-Tuner Bluetooth first.

There are other huge differences. One is a quad core PX3 and the other is an Octa core Allwinner. You might want to spend a little more up front to do this right and get a newer PX5 or PX6 Octa core processor and at least 4 GB of ram as 2 GB is not enough anymore.

Can you post a picture of the active cooling? How much do you want for it? Who made it?

This is similar to what I did, had to cut the radio metal cage, but temps are always low.

I must say, this is a GOOD price for this. You have an active cooler and the matte black version. If anyone is thinking of buying one, this is a good one to get!

Thanks... good info

How does the memory work where it says 2gb -32gb? 2gb on board plus 32 gb in SD card?

Asking because I havreally zero experience in these radios

  • The smaller (1,2 or 4 GB) is the on-board RAM. The higher the number the quicker apps will load, especially when multiple apps are running (TPMS, music player, widgets on the home screen, Torque),
  • The larger number is the on-board storage. This is where you download and install your apps to and where the operating system is run from.
  • PX3 or PX5 (or PX6) is more like your processor or chipset model. Once again, the higher the number, in this case, the newer the system and the better long term support you should have. I would stay away from purchasing the PX3 radios as they are a much older chip and will be being phased out soon.
  • The whole device is just a glorified android phone.
