My Type R is stock, and I plan to keep it that way for the time being. I was wondering if there's any advantage to running 93 octane vs 91.
Thanks

Any source on that? It would be nice to have a stock Dyno graph on 87/91/93. Maybe ktuner or Hondata can weigh in here...
If I'm not mistaken, I believe those higher HP ratings come from countries with 100+ octane

Comes from a quote in a video by Honda Pro Jason Honda from an engineer in Swindon about why US has less horsepower. He stated European octane is higher so horsepower is higher. Said limit is 98. Above that there are no gains.

While I'd like someone else to try 87 just to tell us what happens...I would strongly recommend against it.
I accidentally but regular in my 2009 Si once, but realized what I had done right as the tank was almost full. I went into the gas station and bought a can of octane booster and put it in the tank. I then went super easy on the car until the tank was about half way empty and then topped it off again with premium. The car can tell it has a lower octane gas and adjusts the engine (retards the timing and some other adjustments) so it will protect itself. I didn't really notice it was down on power, but I was taking it easy on it.

I hope to never make that mistake with my CTR.

IIRC, euro 98 is comparable to US 93 due to differences in octane measurement.
Correct, they use RON so I think it's 98 RON or something which equals our 93 octane.

If you just throw 93 octane gas in a stock CTR there is going to be no difference. I'd love to see a dyno to tell me otherwise though.

At least you didn't do like the guy that runs the Vader Si Instagram channel. He filled his car up with diesel because someone had put the wrong fuel in the pumps. He had to get a new car.

Ouch who messed that one up? I assume the gas station paid for it?

That's awesome that we have that tech now, also had no idea octane booster was a thing. How much does that cost and how exactly does it work?
