Hi guys.

So I have the “small” size version of the civic - the 1.0 litre engine with 129 hp...

So I was considering getting a new intercooler and Injen cold air intake, but I’m having trouble finding any for the 1.0 litre version. There are however plenty of selections for the 1.5 litre ... so here’s my question - seeing as the engine bay is same size as the other civics, would it be fair to assume that I would be able to buy the parts for the 1.5 litre version ?

The attached is a picture under the hood of my civic ...

Should be said I’m from Denmark, so if any Europeans on here knows where to buy either for the 1.0 litre version, if even in existence, or for the 1.5 litre version, assuming it fits - please do feel free to throw recommendations my way ...

your best bet is to contact FORGE Motorsport in UK as this engine is only available in Europe/UK, also Forge motorsport has made some parts for the ford fiesta ecoboost 1000cc turbo and other smaller engine cars.

Hello from Greece! I do not not if the 1.0 has a MAF or MAP sensor. Seeing the foto you posted, I do not see a MAF sensor like the L15 has. Find out how the intake works, because in case of a MAF you need the proper intake for the engine to operate properly. Since I had to do a lot of digging my self to see which civic parts fit the L15BY on my CRV, I can suggest you checking firstly your MAF/MAP sensor part number, which is really easy to do. It is written on top of the sensor. In case of MAF, compare the part number to the US spec civic on sites like honda parts network or honda parts now. If your MAF is the same as the 1.5 base model, you ll know which intake you should get. If you have a MAP, it is a different story and I think (but I am not sure) that the aftermarket intake sizing is no issue, but still you need proper fitting of the sensor on the intake.

Regarding the intercooler, there are two main issues. First you dont want the intercooler to be way too big for your engine and second is the fitting. In theory, fitting should be plug and play as the car has identical dimensions. For me for instance, there is no bolt on option as the CRV is wider than the civic plus there is a good chance I ll need to remove the active shutters. The piping is probably different than the 1.5, so I guess it is better to change only the IC.

Regarding size, you can also contact Mishimoto. They have an official store in the UK and in general they respond to customer questions. If they tell you that their intercooler sizing wont be an issue for your engine, you can pull the trigger on the IC which costs 660 euros and then do some retrofitting/DIY when you install if it is not a direct fit. Plus the Mishimoto fits the stock piping as a direct bolt-on on the 1.5 and I think they have units available for immediate shipping. Since they ship out of the UK, no customs charges apply, unless Brexit moves forward.

Again, in theory fitting the IC wont be an issue if its a bolt on for the 1.5. You have to check the piping though. Another way to sort things out, is have your local dealer compare part numbers for the IC and the piping between the 1.0 and the 1.5. Despite the USA Honda EPC (Electronic Parts Catalogue) being widely available online, EUDM EPC is nowhere to be found except official dealers.

I think the mishimoto for the 1.5 is way too big for a 1.0 and I don't think it has the same pipes/couplings so it won be plug and play since it's specific for the 1.5 engine.
