Sunroof Rattle on SI

After the techs checked my car out they decided to check another SI on the lot and found it to be worse than mine. Apparently it's the rails that are rattling and as of now there is not a fix they can think of. The service tech reported it to Honda to see if they can come up with a fix. I first noticed a slight rattle when going over bumps (cracks in the road) and then because I knew about it the sound obviously was easier to notice. I found that if I supply pressure to the headliner with my hand by the dome light right at the opening of the sunroof it goes away. I have a SI Coupe 2017 with 800 miles on it.

I have a non si sedan, but mine would rattle too. I just cut a couple pieces of weatherstripping tape and laid them down where the rails would rest at. I did that months ago and I still don't have any rattles up there.

When I first got my SI the liner rattled when I had the sunroof tilted. To fix it, I just moved the liner back and forth and got it to fit on the rails better. Never heard a peep from it since.

I do apologize for pulling up an old thread. I have a 2018 SI and the sunroof rattles as described by the OP. Weather stripping where the rails would rest.. I'm trying to imagine the location. Is this on top or bottom of the sliding cover where the rails would rest?

Just grease the rubbersealing or grease the glass were the sealing lays when closed.

I've had the same problem, reported it to Honda on service but they claim they could not recreate the problem so I got some rubber lubricant, sprayed it onto a cloth and wiped the seals around the sunroof with it, the creaking/rattling noise has gone for now and at least I know what it is. My father also has a new Civic and his has developed the same rattle, so I assume this is a common problem.

Anyway anyone know what to do thank you .

What is rattling? The sunshade or the whole assembly? The sunshade will have 4 spring clips made out of plastic. They can be broken during assembly. The whole assembly is mounted with bolts up into the roof structure. Either fix requires the complete removal of the assembly to fix it right.

I just used some silicon rubber lubricant, it's readily available and is easily applied using a cloth, mine has just started creaking again so time to redo it
