This has irked me ever since I bought the R. The temperature, tach, and fuel needles are all yellow, which is a color that appears nowhere else on a very red display. If I'm not mistaken, the Si's needles are red, at least in sport mode.

Is this for better visibility during high-intensity driving or what? Is there a setting I haven't found to change the color?

I think it'd be cool if ours had the little meter that filled up as the RPMs increase like the 10th gen Si cars do.

I know the old Type Rs like the DC2, NSX, EKs all had the yellow needles but i think the newer ones like the FD2, FK2 had red ones.
In America, most red colors against a dark/black background (especially in digital and print displays) are not ADA (American Disability Act) approved and can cause a bit of a nightmare for companies should someone with color blindness claim that Honda was not providing them with a sensible accessibility option. Yellow, however, is color-blind-free as it can be seen by anyone and everyone against any color background.

This may have nothing to do with Honda's decision, but I thought I'd at least enter it into the forum's vault for reference.

doubt it had anything to do with hondas decisions.
My ilx has red needles lol. I bet the red just makes it too hard to see when it's a display and not an actual needle so they changed it.

do you remember the older VW clusters with the blue background and red needle? It looked so nice but man was it a strain on your eyes.

I've looked and looked. I don't see it. There is no setting I could find either to turn it on.
He’s right. I use it all the time. Your talking about the 6 to 7 “lights” going from yellow to red right?

You can add and remove things from the menu you access from the steering wheel. It’s done through the infotainment center. Maybe yours was removed by accident.

I think we're thinking of two different things. I know what the shift lights are. What I'm talking about is different. If you look at videos of 10th gen Si gauges you'll notice that this red bar fills up the space behind the digital tach needle. Our Type R gauges don't do that. At least I don't think they do or can.
