Stage 1 is fine but you can use the starter tunes and have the same 18 psi, then bump up some of the driveability settings. They will put you beyond the Stage 1 feel if you want.

For example, you could try this setup:

Enable "early spool" in the quick enables. For quick adjustments, set your throttle response to Improved II, turbo spool at Improved II, turbo responsiveness to Improved II or III and boost ramp at Aggressive I or II. Upload your new tune and enjoy. :)

If for some reason, you still prefer the basic Stage 1, simply re-upload that. It's all about trial and error with tuning. Just remember that all the quick adjustments are safe. The only one I don't recommend is disabling boost ramp. It's too harsh.
I’m trying your tune right now (starter stage 1). However my knock control (I think) is around .49 when cruising city streets from 0km/h to 80km/h.

On the highway when I pull harder around 3-4K rpm to reach 100km/h to 120km/h my knock control goes from .49~.59 to .69-.79.
When I start cruising (not pushing the throttle too high) my numbers are at around .8 but never goes over .9. When I push the throttle to about 3-4k it’ll sometimes bring me down, while cruising it’ll give me some higher numbers and stay there until I put the throttle down.

With eco mode on, I’m getting 0.49~.59 on highway, and city driving. With the occasional .6ish. I’m using 91 Octane, from Shell gas station and Petro Canada gas station.

Should I reduce my boost ramp to aggressive I instead of II? Or is there something I did wrong with the tune?

Thanks!

hard pulls on non Si cars affect knock control way more. this type of movement is completely normal and expected on 91 octane. I wouldnt worry too much as long as it comes back down some.

On 91 octane, those numbers look perfectly normal. My K. Control is mostly a bit lower than that but I run 93 octane. Even on 93 though, with hot temps and WOT runs, I will see the occasional .7+.

A tale of two drives today.

During my commute to work using my 16.5psi tune, and going the speed limit, I got nearly 45 mpg! Gotta love the warmer weather and non-winter blend gas.

Driving the same route home, I used my 21psi tune to see if I could keep pace with a Mustang in the fast lane and saw 32 mpg. Still really good considering.

I never really use my stock Econ button tune but today I did. 46.7 mpg! And it feels better than stock due to my improved quick adjustments. Very usable on the highway actually.

I just uploaded my newest tune setup and this might be the best yet:

Honda Civic 10th gen My KTuner experience - an ongoing journal 17_19_21_s+.GIF

Early Spool: on

What's cool about this setup is it basically gives me six different tunes at my fingertips. I've got a factory boost econ button tune, 16.5 psi econ button tune, 17 psi normal tune, 18 psi econ button tune, 19 psi normal tune and a 21 psi normal tune. With different combinations of turbo response and ramp.

KTuner sure gives you a lot for your money.

Great thread!

Btw, are you still doing boost by gear? If so, can I know what your settings are?

I just made the switch from Hondata a couple weeks ago and installed the flex fuel kit last week--WOW what a difference!

I actually stopped using BBG. There's nothing wrong with it but most of my driving is highway with some city mixed in and I don't floor it off the line. My foot does a good job of modulating the throttle. ;)

As far as the move from Hondata to KTuner...

Hondata is a good product. I would never say otherwise. I enjoyed my time with it. KTuner though, has this 10th gen absolutely nailed. It's an amazing product with excellent support.

Lucky you … us EU spec ECU's have not received the multi-map update yet, so we have to do with just ECO (factory) and max (running 22.5psi on the manual...) with factory throttle response (I will just floor it when needed) and improved spool / ramp. Still a fantastic driving experience and doing 6 lt/100km (~39MPG) on my 'includes-everything' average, without ever switching to ECO. This is why I have chosen to stick with factory throttle response, as I am then able to fully control boost by the weight of my foot :)

Here's a mind blowing fact. One that should put a smile on CVT KTuner users...

With the on the fly tunes, like I said earlier, I have six different levels of boost with various settings. That in itself is incredible. But the CVT has three different modes (D, S and L) (on the sedan) that give a somewhat different feel. So in a way I have 18 different combinations depending on my mood or the driving conditions. Crazy, huh?

There are a ton of different ECU's worldwide, so be patient. It will be worth the wait.

What ECU is yours? When is the last time you checked and updated Ktuner software. I noticed they added OTF to more ECUS

Here's why I recommend everyone at least considers a tune who has a CVT and turbo.

It's not only about launching your car or tracking it or even 0-60 times. To me, it's about having a safer, better driving car with confident power on tap. More power, less lag and better throttle response.

A perfect example of what I mean happened on the highway today ..

First off I want to make something clear. I wouldn't have attempted this move without a tune. The stock CVT turbo combo simply has too much lag going from very light to a heavy punch of the throttle.

Here's how it went down. A Toyota in front of me was doing 15 mph on a highway on ramp. He never sped up at all even approaching the 65 mph highway itself. On the highway, I saw a truck barrelling down towards us and the Toyota applied his brakes. I had a split second decision to make. Do I wait behind this scared snail forever or do I gun it and get out in front of that approaching truck on the highway, but quick?

I was doing about 10 mph and gave it a heavy blip of the throttle. The tires chirped briefly and my Civic just took off immediately. No lag, no drama and I was up to 65 mph in a flash.

That's the reason I love my KTuner tune. It inspires confidence and honestly makes driving this car twice as enjoyable as stock.
