When people say they are waiting til the warranty is up to tune, I always chuckle. I get it... it's better safe than sorry. But the thing is, the base tunes have proven safe time and again. Just go back to factory for dealer visits.

If you're 100% happy with your car's power and driveability, there's no need to ever tune. But, if you want more, why wait 5 years / 60,000 miles to REALLY enjoy your car? That's an awfully long time to wait.

You're killing me! I want to get the tuner but I have so many other things happening that are rather expensive (New roof, 20th anniversary trip to Vegas) and do take priority... But man, when it is treat myself time... This is happening. And I even finally found a Canadian vendor with a proper online presence!

This is the good question. I like that there are gobs of people messing around but they also need to remember to properly document things if they really want what they are doing to be fully useful for others. Otherwise, it is just anecdote and entertainment.
All I can say is I’ve always liked adding bolt on parts to make more power in all my vehicles. And most of the time you can’t even notice the difference. It’s usually all in your head. But I decided to keep my civic completely stock and just use the ktuner. Well this was actually a noticeable difference! So that being said, I know it’s adding more power than an CAI can give you and costs almost the same. Just saying

This is exactly why the KTuner is going to be my first and likely only engine performance mod. I want just a bit more power and better throttle response.

Anything I do beyond that will be for handling such as better tires, perhaps a front strut bar to tighten things up just a little. The car is always taunting me to take corners so I am sure it would be an added benefit. Also, there are a lot of turns/banking turns that are supposed to be slow turns where I live and are ever so much fun to take faster than prescribed :)

I wanted to tune and almost bought one off the forum.

I chickened out cause I am afraid if I ever need warranty work and they find out. I only have 12k on the car and my luck I would have a problem. So going to wait till warranty is up and then do it.

I am having a real hard time resisting though, but have to. You guys are making it real hard.
If it makes you feel better, I only had around 3100 when I tuned mine a little over a week ago. I don't see how this tune could hurt anything since its basically just correcting how the engine should be performing, plus its extremely easy to flash back to stock in the event i do need to take it back to the dealer.

Not about hurting anything, I get the tune.

Just afraid if they could tell I changed it if ever work done. From what I hear they can tell if you changed it even if put back on stock.

Not sure I can wait 4 more years though. :)

If you flash back to stock when you go to the dealer, they won't be able to tell unless a master technician is specifically looking for changes in the ECU. Also even if they do find it somehow, they'd have to prove that the tune is the cause of whatever problem occurred in your car. Basically, there are a lot of contingencies for the tune to actually void your warranty so waiting until the warranty expires is just not worth it at all imo. Life's short anyway, might as well enjoy it as much as you can.

Well, I ordered it and hope to feel a difference in how it performs for N/A.

Ok one thing I kept running into with mine was it kept coming up with a fault. Ended up being that my laptop was going into sleep mode or something during the flash. It even tells you in the instructions to disable any kind of sleep mode on your computer before the flash. Well my ass didn’t read that till later. So long story short make sure to not let your laptop sleep or even let the screen go off while flashing or it won’t work. But if you have any issues feel free to ask any of us.

So many people ignore this point! Yes turn off power saver mode, make sure the laptop has a full battery and dont sit in the car with the car "on" while building the tunes it will drain your car battery and that will cause a flash to fail as well.
