Hi there, 18 HB Sport CVT @ 22k miles

I am not the most car savy but I am enjoying my HBS, however if I want to book it through a straightaway or anything around the 4k-5k mark I can start to smell something similar to gas. It is obviously more apparent with the windows down but I have noticed it with the windows closed in cab.

To note:
I have changed the oil 3 times (5K, 12K, 18K) I'm due for another change soon and I have not done either of the air filters. Never changed the CVT fluid (if that needs to be done) and I have the car at bone stock. TYIA

I could be mistaken but I believe there is a recall for your vehicle in regards to this exact problem.

2016-2018 Civic vehicles equipped with a 1.5L turbo direct-injection engine, causes the smell of gas. There is a recall right now for this!

I hope this helps!

Would you be able to post a link to this recall? It appears there is a very similar lawsuit going on right now here: Wolf et al v. Honda Motor Co. But this was filed in October 2022, so well after you made your post.

As far as I can tell there is no fix to this, but I have the same problem on my 2019 Honda civic ex hatchback, which has the 1.5L turbo engine in question. It smells like gas when accelerating around 4k-5k rpm, especially with the windows down.
