Why ignore it? Car is under warranty. Seems like a good idea to get that looked at.I see this has popped up in the lower trim levels but havent seen this yet on a Type-R. Shirley, I cant be the only one. FYI - in addition to this crap on the dash the car sounded like a diesel engine when it started, or like the engine was lugging, as in starting from a stop light in 4th gear and mashing the throttle. I'm ignoring it for now.
Apparently its not an uncommon issue. Just surprised it hasnt popped up on more CTRs. https://www.civicx.com/threads/emis...nock-sensor-1-circuit-range-performance.1654/Why ignore it? Car is under warranty. Seems like a good idea to get that looked at.
Nah, hasnt come back. My advice to anyone that gets the warning is to ignore it, unless there are other warnings included. Mine went away after roughly 1.5 days of driving. I didnt disconnect anything. I think the knock sensor may be finely tuned and occassionaly think there's an issue that isnt there.Did it ever come back? My light just went off at about 90 miles. I pulled the battery connection for 10 mins and am hoping that when I drive it around tomorrow, it'll reset.
Mine went away after driving for a bit and hasn't come back either. I will say that when pushing it up to 30% throttle in Sport Mode, I haven't seen positive boost numbers yet. It does seem to hold strong at -1 psi, so hopefully it's just me being careful during break in and not an indication of a boost issue.Nah, hasnt come back. Planning to take a wait and see approach if light goes off as some said it does, but would like to look into the lower idling is an issue
Yes, at around 3500 RPM I feel like this car unleashes the beast within. And let me tell you, when that hits - hang on tight! It catches you by surpriseJust to follow up on my previous post - after watching some videos of Type R's doing pulls, I don't think that mine has any problems. I was concerned about the check engine light in combo with not seeing any positive boost at (what felt like) a decent amount of throttle. I've since realized that the Type R builds boost very differently than my previous '17 SI. The SI was very peaky, with boost coming in very noticeably around 3300 RPM, but the power would start to fall off around 5000 RPM, By contrast, the Type R doesn't really seem to build any boost under partial throttle below 4K RPM. The videos seem to show that from around 3800 RPM and up, the boost builds gradually higher until peaking at close to red line (and then falling off a bit for the last few hundred RPM). Since I'm still in the break in period, I haven't gone above 35% throttle or 4K RPM, so it makes sense that I haven't really seen any positive boost.
I can't wait for the break-in period to be over to give it a good pull. I do feel like under partial throttle (around 30%), the Type R doesn't really build much boost compared to the SI under 4K RPM. I'm guessing that's due to it not needing boost to achieve torque targets - the K20C1 is around 33% bigger than the L15, and probably has timing improvements granting it more power as well.Yes, at around 3500 RPM I feel like this car unleashes the beast within. Welcome! By chance did you fill up with a different type of fuel than in the past? If you're getting the "Emissions System Problem" message then I'd definitely give it a couple days to see if it clears itself. If you happen to have a half tank of gas wouldnt be a bad idea to fill it up with some quality fuel next time you're near a pump.
